Favoriting Hinky Dinky Time with Uncle Michael: Playlist from March 27, 2015 Favoriting

Uncle Michael's avatar View Uncle Michael's profile Favoriting

Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

I think "pill" is in Janet's job description, and honestly should be her entire job title.

I am as worked up as one can be while grossly sick.

I am actively trying to figure out how to discreetly place a switch and fuse on a taco, which is way more ambitious than staring at the ceiling.

Quote given as recently as summer of 2014 by Tylor Hanson:
Taylor: "There is not a release date, but we are writing. In fact I was just emailing back and forth with James Iha and Adam Schlesinger about writing songs. The thing about Tinted Windows is, it kind of sits out here almost unattacked, it doesn't have to be released at a certain time. And we have always kind of enjoyed that, when there is a record done, there will be a record and it will come out. We are, what we are doing right now, we are doing writing and working with a lot of different people, so there... it's actually a good time to be working on that music. Hopefully there will be another Tinted Windows...... music."

Sadly, explosions are on my mind today. I used to love to shop in a Japanese toy store in the East Village that specialized in wind-up toys. It moved elsewhere some years ago. Yesterday, the restaurant underneath its former locale exploded. In this pic you can see the old second-floor storefront, literally a solid block of fire.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:25pm
Gaylord Fields:

@chromaphone: No, I've seen Wanda live many a time, and that's her voice. I mean, anything's possible, and we all know that recordings have been sped up since the beginning of recorded sound, but there's no reason to think her vocals were sped up as a matter of course.

My heart goes out to all of those people there
The lose of that area has hit me and my wife pretty hard. I have not really followed up on it this morning as it was very emotional for us. That part of the city has been a huge part of my life for a very long time and became an even bigger part when my wife and I got togeather some 15 years ago. @Uncle Michael: She's still a vocal powerhouse, and even though she sometimes may drop in a gospel song or two, she always goes right back into the devil's music.

I just got out of another meeting and go to this page and saw the gif. It reminds me, when I was in elementary school there was some administrator called "Mrs. Bamburger" and whenever I heard her name, the first thing that came to my mind was an exploding hamburger.

The current formula is one "legacy", one "behind the scenes" and one kinda newer.
This year's legacy is The Browns,
Grady Martin (one of the best guitar pickers you've never heard of) was the studio/business side,
And the newer act was the Oak Ridge Boys.
Avatar 2:43pm
