And eye-rolling early Good Morning to you too, DJ Ken.
Avatar 🚽 Swag For Life Member 6:25am Ken:

Hello there P-90, you beat me to it!
  6:28am P-90:

Just happened to be peeking to see if you were underway at the very moment today's page sprang to life. it was like witnessing the birth of a new Kardashian by serendipity. Or something.

Avatar 🚽 Swag For Life Member 7:02am Ken:

Hey Cory.
Avatar 7:19am cory:

who's ready for a full day of laundry and cleaning 78s?
  7:59am P-90:

What's your preferred method for cleaning 78s? I've watched collector friends flushing them with tapwater in the kitchen sink, explaining that it's still the best way. Do you just toss yours in with the laundry? "Delicate" cycle with the pantyhose, etc.?
Avatar 8:00am cory:

has anyone tried that wood glue cleaning? p-90 i just got a rca cleaning kit. new to this so i don't really know
Avatar 🚽 Swag For Life Member 8:06am Ken:

I've only ever done soap and water which does a good job. I imagine wood glue, if done right would work well.
  8:06am P-90:

I read about that wood-glue thing somewhere recently. If you're interested in some experienced advice, you might email MAC and Mike of Ragged Antique Phonograph fame, I'd bet they'd be very generous with some well-seasoned advice.
Avatar 8:11am cory:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:15am Polyus:

@cory: I have heard multiple people getting really good results from a combination isopropyl alcohol, distilled water, and a few drops of either Dawn dishwashing detergent or Photoflo - the amount of each seems to vary widely, depending on who you ask. Have not tried it myself.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:27am Andrew Waterloo:

My record store friends recommend a tiny amount of 70% alcohol in distilled water and one of the green dust cloths from the dollar store.
Avatar 9:27am Ghost of Posts Past:

i love macaroons :3
Avatar 🚽 Swag For Life Member 9:31am Webhamster Henry:

We used to have a case of macaroons that we kept in the basement. "Hey, let's get some macaroons!" REALLY GOOD and a little too convenient. Rather like a stockpile of Thin Mints in the freezer.
  9:33am P-90:

It's genuinely fascinating to hear how many "folk recipes" for cleaning 78s there are. I think one of the times I saw this done, it was a sponge used to apply a week solution of Palmolive (or similar) to the grooves, which were then flushed directly under the tap, avoiding the "brown water build-up"issue. I remember remarking upon the precision with which he avoided wetting the labels, and being told that became second nature with practice.
Avatar 🚽 9:34am bbell:

god morgon!
Avatar 9:35am OTB:

Have you tried using chocolate macaroons to clean your 78s?
Avatar 9:36am cory:

i don't know about that. sounds more like a hydrox job
  9:38am P-90:

@OTB -Or washing down chocolate macaroons with that 70% alcohol in distilled water...?
Avatar 9:39am fleep:

That cat has built in heels. Disturbing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:40am Andrew Waterloo:

Macaroons are best enjoyed with a clean pallet. For the best macaroon enjoyment you should be in the perfect center of a clean unfurnished room.
  9:40am P-90:

I remember my first hydox job, in the back of a customized van, "More than a Feeling" by Boston was playing...

Avatar 🚽 Swag For Life Member 10:09am Ken:

The only reason I dont completely hate getting calls on my cell phone is because half the time it's actually something important or somebody I want to speak to. But the percentage of 'wanted' calls on my cell just keeps getting lower and lower.
Avatar 10:10am Roberto:

Caller ID helps. It helps a lot.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:10am Marcel M:

I get anxiety when my phone rings. Depends when though... at night the anxiety is more gripping.
Avatar 🚽 Swag For Life Member 10:11am ken:

Caller ID tends to be a built in feature to cell phones Roberto. It feels like a moot point.
Avatar 🚽 Swag For Life Member 10:12am Webhamster Henry:

Hey - how about video call-ins on on your next Video show? get a burner smartphone to call into!
Avatar 10:13am Roberto:

I mean it helps as compared to pre-1990s when I had to guess whether or not I wanted to talk to the person who was calling.
  10:13am Neg-guh-tor:

Put your phone on vibrate and keep it in the front pocket of your slacks.
Avatar 🚽 Swag For Life Member 10:15am Ken:

Negator, I've been doing that and now my leg vibrates all the freakin time whether I have a call or not.
Avatar 🚽 Swag For Life Member 10:15am Webhamster Henry:

In the 90s, I used my elaborate tape-based answering machine for call screening. I produced a lot of funny outgoing messages with my 4-track!
  10:17am Neg-guh-tor:

Ken, you got to switch pockets so both legs vibrate a little all the time. She's nice.

I just recently found out that Leland Stanford had a son, (Jr.), who died in childhood. So Sr. named Stanford University after him. The band isn't a Junior band, it is "Leland Stanford Junior" University Marching Band.

I remember the Nancy from which that was a frame. It was pretty funny. She figures her taxes kid style, goes to IRS to file, and the clerk concludes she's owed a 5 cent refund, which he dispenses on the spot. The last frame is the clerk deluged with a line of children w tax forms.
