Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

During the Captain's early, bluesier phase, the two bands played in the same circuit -- on the same bill, even -- and there was probably some jealousy of Canned Heat's ability to fashion hit singles from reworked, uncredited blues tunes.

@RevRab Hmmm.I love the 2 Syd Barret solo albums more than the Floyd albums that came out shortly after that time[With the exception of Wish You Were Here];Even though they both were pretty much [In a certain sense] Floyd albums themselves.

research indicates reality is even weirder
and harder to remember than i thought
appears likely that the same larry taylor
mentioned above was the bassist on the
only tom waits gigs i ever worked on
recording engineer biff dawes hired me
to help him with the front of house sound
at the often sonically difficult beacon theatre
nyc 1999 and just for @mikeeast
the always hard to amplify portable pump harmonium
that tom played was carroll's

very interesting. I first saw Waits in about '84. Him, and upright bass player and a sax player. Tom played piano, guitar and bare-handed tympani.

Yeah, I wouldn't give up my old Moto for the longest time, when it barely limped along, because I had a Verizon unlimited plan, which they did away with, but as long as I didn't trade up I could still have it. But, at some time phone wasn't usable anymore, and I hate having a cap. Oh well...
