Yes he is indeedy, Rev. Lemme know if you corner him in the lounge and quiz him.

Ah, Fabio! Good afternoon,
For the first time in my life, I'm living out of range of the 91.1 signal, finally set up with my new Bose Soundwave, now I can really drive my wife crazy!

In Bushwick the firecrackers go all night!
Avatar 4:23pm

Oh, we used blow up matchbox cars.

Actually, in some neighborhoods in Brooklyn, they still close off the block for total annihilation.
Avatar 4:24pm

My friend Crazy Louie used to try to blow out street lamps with a cherry bomb and a slingshot. Required perfect timing.

The Failure of Fireworks
  4:27pm
Listener Robert:

Once you get into constructing your own, it takes something away from the enjoyment of commercial product.
  4:28pm
steve:

I think it's getting tamer as years go by but there's still lawlessness and explosions all night on the 4th in the far-from-the-subway part of greenpoint, though it all seems to be reasonably safe storebought fireworks
Avatar 4:29pm
johnforz:

sadly Anna, the firecrackers in modern Bushwick don't compare to the 80's in brooklyn. it was like a warzone.. and they were never called "firecrackers"
Avatar 4:31pm
northguineahills:

I was at a friends' in Red Hook on fourth, and we were afraid if the windows weren't open, they'd shatter. People parked vans at various intersections to close them off, and the cops didn't lift an eyebrow. Chilling on the roof watching it was so much fun.
Avatar 4:33pm

i'm from the red hook area, maybe that's where I'll hang tomorrow night. lou valentino pier is my favorite park in the city

Avatar 5:13pm

I used to pour gasoline down fire ant hives. I don't regret it, they always bit the hell out of me and are an invasive species. I got severely hurt when I was four when I fell through a fire ant hive on a creek bank. Not fun.

Speaking of blowing up jellyfish, that reminds me: I bought "Popular Electronics: Early Dutch Electronic Music From Philips Research Laboratories (1956 - 1963)", which this music reminds me of.
