Oh dang, Fabio. I got the creeping crud, too. It is worse in the summer somehow. Hope you feel better!

i eat raw garlic most nights to fend off colds... forgot for a few days and here i am.
  3:39pm
JakeGould:

@steve: How can you eat raw garlic?!?! Doesn’t it burn. Just roast it or cook it… Same effect but less pain and burning of your mouth/throat.
Avatar 3:49pm
Ike:

Thanks for the warning -- switching to the webstream now!
Avatar 3:50pm
steve:

im really into good (and healthy) spicy foods, so it seems less extreme to me than it might to a normal person. raw garlic is extremely good for your immune system, but it has to be raw and has to be crushed and chewed up (you can't just swallow it immediately) for all the good stuff to make it into your head and sinuses.

Rev. Turnip Druid:

Bless you for the Martin Denny. It's been almost a week since the Hawaii trip but I'm still hallucinating tikis & tall drinks everywhere.
Avatar 3:52pm

Last night was surprisingly chilly and windy, and I left all the windows open, so I woke up dehydrated w/a sore throat. But it didn't last. Should've pulled out that humidifier as soon as it cooled off last night.

@VP: didn't get access to the man, but Mrs. Todd was there (delightful person), who gracefully sang Happy Birthday to Mrs. Druid (it was the reason for the trip). So there's a wee brush with fame, with some skylarking story spinning.

Hello Fabio,
The 91.1 signal was marginal best, unless one were under the transmitter, or south of the Watchungs. I don't miss it one bit!..... They asked me why I grounded my tuner in a potato......Martin Denny came in wonderfully, on the Bose Soundwave.
Avatar 4:06pm
V Priceless:

@ Rev: great stuff, any way you slice it, and belated birthday cheer to the little lady. Wonder where that Chamberlin is? Probably still @ Bearsville.
Avatar 4:06pm
Ike & the Head of a Dead Ram:

I did the potato thing for a while in Peapack, NJ. It actually helped pick up 91.1. And yes, there's a town called Peapack.

@ Rev Rab Nov63: sounds like the same kinda human as a bunch of us FAILURE Fanatics -- for example, years ago i came home from a REALLY stressful day at work, Fabio was playing a whole (LP) side of "Metal Machine Music" -- sooooo SOOTHING and HEALING! -- so i called him (yes, pre-internet days!) to offer my sheer, profound GRATITUDE

I know Peapack well, renovated an old barn, into an apartment, once upon a time, must've been '67,'68...there was an old cistern on the property, which supplied water to the steam locos, which ran on the Lackawanna R.R.
