I found the Wizard's Ice books completely implausible. The idea of melding magical fantasy fiction with the hustle and bustle of crack cocaine dealing was a piece of niche fiction that just didn't speak to me. I am surprised there were so many books in the series..

the Hostess pantheon was strange. There was King Ding Dong, yet the fruit pie's anthropomorphic avatar was simply named Fruit Pie. But at least he was a magician.

No, Ho-ho's are flat pieces of cake with cream on them, which are then rolled into a loaf. I know my crappy dessert foods, and so do my few remaining teeth.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:15pm

I think America's now dizzying array of snake cakes - many of them anthropomorphic - had a lot to do with cold war tension and anxiety.
Give them ornate and elaborate snacks, they said.

You're right about Jodorowsky's Dune, he may actually have created something unique in the history of cinema-- it exists (and always will) as a classic movie in our imaginations, in a way no movie that actually gets made ever will (or could.) I know some people who worked on it, literally everyone connected to it was infused with a kind of inspiration I've never seen before (on a movie crew), they were all so completely convinced they were working on something that would be unique and timeless. And it's become that!
  7:34pm
