Hi everybody! Sorry for being such a silent partner tonight. Little bit of a weird day for me but it's better now that I can play some nice tunes for you all. I was going to wish you a happy birthday, Van, but you beat me to it. I'll see if I can dig up "Don't Give Up."

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:23pm
Irene Trudel:

Me too, Melinda. That scratchy copy is mine from High School. Parq, Robyn has often talked about how Highway 61 Revisited helped him through a particularly rough time at boarding school. He released this unofficial album of covers a few years ago but I think it's since been deleted.
Avatar 10:24pm
Van in DC:

Deleted no more. :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:24pm
Irene Trudel:

True too, Rev. Rabbit. Syd and Dylan go hand in hand in Robyn's background.

I know Rev. Rabbit. Couldn't get tickets to the Newport Folk Festival this year-- sold out at the beginning of the year. And it was Robyn's first time there, as far as I know. Ah, well, he did perform it live for me on WFMU. Here's the show: wfmu.org...

Avatar 11:07pm
Van in DC:

Judy Collins? Really?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:08pm
Irene Trudel:

Judy Collins. She made a couple of weirdly wonderful albums in the late 60's. A lot of great producers & arrangers took chances with established folkies (maybe based on the strength of Dylan going electric?)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:09pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- two things brought to mind by this:
1.) Judy Collins reportedly practically shoved Leonard Cohen onto the stage for him to become a performer.
2.) Her son committed suicide.

Van in DC:

<-- New respect for Judy Collins
