Favoriting Hinky Dinky Time with Uncle Michael: Playlist from November 7, 2015 Favoriting

Uncle Michael's avatar View Uncle Michael's profile Favoriting

Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...the 3DN versions were very accomplished - but also produced straight in the direction of the charts - & honestly a little over-exposed for decades - on every comp of Hits - every reference for domestic piano players &tc.
...so these versions effectively restore appreciation for the very high quality of a very large number of tunes...somebody in 3DN or their handlers had this ability to pick songs...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:00pm
Uncle Michael:

Well put, Rev.
  11:02pm
ronzoni:

i doubt that 3DN get a lot of radio play these days. what format would play them? NY's "oldies" station is too busy playing billy joel and madonna

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:03pm

And that made the Monkees' What Am I Doing Hangin 'Round into bluegrass.

Agreed, Rev. Song selection is pretty important, but often overlooked.
