Mornin' Nate! Ready to Rock buddy!

Good morning Nate and listeners
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:09am
Nate K:

Morning!... I'm lettitng Lou take his time setting it up this particular AM.
Avatar 6:10am
SmokinJ:

He can do it! :)

...I don't care if the Velvet Underground & Lou Reed are mainstream Pop chartbusters! I still really like them anyway - & I'm not ashamed to admit it!...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:11am
pacific standard simon:

Ha! This is the way it should be done!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:13am
Nate K:

We share that sentiment @RR11/63. I feel like this glut of reissues has pushed them into 100 percent classic-rock milk-the-back-catalog territory, but I say bring it on. I can't get enough, myself.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:13am
pacific standard simon:

Grateful for the late night headphones, for once.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:14am
Nate K:

@simon "I'm Waiting for the Man" now with nod-offs!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:22am
pacific standard simon:

I've been known to nod off during many a WFMU show, in the wee small hours (pacific standard time). Even with the headphones on. Nothing personal.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:23am
Nate K:

Of course, Simon. No worries.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:27am
pacific standard simon:

Hmm, The Butterscotch Cathedral sounds vaguely familiar. Like a mash-up of ELO and the Bee Gees.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:28am
pacific standard simon:

Or maybe The Move.

JFK DAY LII!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:50am

I can't tell if Charlie is kidding or serious. Hoping for serious.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:53am
fred:

Nate, did you see that Mdou Moctar movie?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:53am
pacific standard simon:

This is pure guitar porn.
  6:54am
Artanker:

this is hot and nasty
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:01am
pacific standard simon:

Whatta set!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:01am
Nate K:

Fred, unfortunately not yet. I was pulled away unexpectedly. But I now have a copy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:10am
fred:

I saw him a couple of week ago. Maybe that's because it was my third time seeing him, but I was a little disappointed. It was a good show, but it was all in the same style, and I know he can do more. Specifically, he had quieter songs when I had seen him earlier, and that side was missing. I'm spoiled, I know
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:10am
pacific standard simon:

I'd say you were welcome to play Doug Sahm all day long, but think of all the other wonderful performers we wouldn't be hearing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:12am
pacific standard simon:

I'll go as far as to say there ought to be a Doug Sahm postage stamp.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:14am
Stanley:

@Fred - I'm looking forward to seeing him Thursday
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:19am
Nate K:

Still haven't see Moctar live. At this point, I'd probably settle for a slightly mediocre set. just to see it anyway.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:19am
fred:

@Stanley: Enjoy!
I should add that the John Edwards/Mark Sanders set that opened for Mdou Moctar that day was great and really raised the bar
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:23am
Stanley:

Strange name The Mantles - interior decorating fans by chance?

@Fred - we have another Sahel outfit opening, Imarhan
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:23am
fred:

@Nate: I don't think he does mediocre. Or rather what's mediocre for him still rocks. If you have the opportunity, you should see Group Inerane and Group Doueh too
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:28am
pacific standard simon:

Holiday fill-ins make me laugh. Pussies. Pros work through holidays.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:31am
pacific standard simon:

On the other hand, fill-ins are often very interesting.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:32am
Stanley:

This is some fine lower basement fuzz guitar action
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:32am
Nate K:

@Fred, both are on my list.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:32am
fred:

@Stanley: I'd love to see Imarhan! I haven't heard much (and I really prefer to see this kind of band live) but they look a little like what Tinariwen used to be
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:32am
Nate K:

@Simon, Sue P = essential listening.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:33am
Nate K:

@Stanley almost sub-basement.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:34am
pacific standard simon:

I'm down with that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:35am
Stanley:

@Fred - thanks for the heads up. I loved Tinariwen but saw them only once in a big concert hall, all a bit strange. We're at a small club in London this week. so should be great.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:38am
pacific standard simon:

I hear Stooges chord changes.
  7:43am
mike 100 degraw:

Can't believe how good this set is. Holy F@$)k! Every Sunday I can renew myself at this hour? Who cares...ill just enjoy the moment.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:44am
fred:

@Stanley: I was lucky enough to see Tinariwen before they got big, and later shows missed something, especially when Robert Plant got involved
My favorite Sahel Sounds release so far is Isswat. How I would love to hear something like this live!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:46am
Nate K:

I saw Tinariwen do a record store in-store show. It was really great to see them in such a close environment.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:48am
Nate K:

@Mike thanks so much.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:57am
fred:

@Nate: Exactly! Tinariwen are great in small venues, something important is lost in a bigger setting
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:05am
DonJuanTijuana:

Howdy! Late night 4 me. Any Flaming Groovies reports?
  8:09am
KP:

The "Any Way the Wind Blows" screening at DOC NYC was tremendous event. Syl himself was on hand
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:11am
Nate K:

@DonJuan Groovies were really great. Loose and fun but still hitting it dead on.
  8:22am
Will:

Hi Nate, woke up late, show sounds great, was that the right Alley Cats song?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:23am
Nate K:

@Will, NOPE! My copy is mislabled. That was the B-side "Give Me a Little Pain."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:25am
DonJuanTijuana:

This Sunshine track Kills!
  8:25am
Pete L:

same song more or less like em both
Avatar 8:27am
doncaballero:

Nate, are you going to post last week's set on the FMA?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:36am
Nate K:

Hey Don, yup! Slight delay, but it should be up soon.
Avatar 8:37am
doncaballero:

No sweat! Just wanted to make sure.
  8:43am
KP:

My money's on the Compulsive Gamblers.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:48am
fred:

I love Holly Golightly! I only saw her once, and she wasn't happy with playing in France, so I don't think I'll get to see her again
  8:50am
SeanG:

these dudes kick ass
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:54am
fred:

These girls kick ass too
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:01am
fred:

Thanks Nate, again
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:02am
