Bowie knew the news would explode when it came because he had concealed the extent of his illness so well. Impeccable showman all the way.

I'm glad to hear it from FMU & I'm glad to have FMU to share it w/. Elvis & Buddy Holly took us somewhere - then TheBeatles - & the Stones took us somewhere...then - the doors & Syd Barrett took us somewhere - & where could we possibly go from there? Bowie was a big part of the answer - & he was no less than that & in that company.

	10:39am 1ke: @Parq@9:58, I think mostly CDs still go to radio stations, but FMU sometimes gets MP3s and cover art via digital download instead, and a volunteer will sometimes burn prominent ones to CD-R because w/o a physical presence in the New Bin, FMU DJs will miss them. (As a note to the DJs, that's why that new Coil CD-R cover art is so awful. Blame the label.)

One thing you had to give Bowie credit for is that he was very supportive of his contemporaries - Scott Walker, Roxy Music, Eno, Iggy etc. Tin Machine's version of "If There Is Something" has to be the greatest cover among many covers Bowie loved to do. A great artist we'll all have forever!

	11:31am dcp: this is a killer set. I lived in PGH for a while and this shit really is huge in western PA. Whoa! Joe, I grew up in Mechanicsburg, PA, just down 81 from Hazleton.

	11:32am dale: i always wondered why no one explored polka on this station very much. the vassar station has a couple of polka shows and jimmy sturr lives one town over from me so it's on the air more than you would think.

One thing you had to give Bowie credit for is that he was very supportive of his contemporaries - Scott Walker, Roxy Music, Eno, Iggy etc. Tin Machine's version of "If There Is Something" has to be the greatest cover among many covers Bowie loved to do. A great artist we'll all have forever!
