Aerial View was WFMU’s first regularly-scheduled phone-in talk show. Hosted by Chris T. and on the air since 1989, the show features topical conversation, interviews and many trips down the rabbit hole. Until further notice, Aerial View is only available as a podcast, available every Tuesday morning. Subscribe to the newsletter “See You Next Tuesday!” and find tons of archives at aerialview.me.

February 2, 2016: Aerial View Junk Drawer
Chris T. has a hellacious cold and decides to clean out the Aerial View Junk Drawer. Odds & Ends, Odds & Sods and Side Effects!
I'm writing this at 5:45 pm Sunday evening. I've spent nearly my entire weekend - no kidding - putting together what I thought would be an easy "Odds & Ends" show, consisting of the following:
David Newgarden & Me, circa 1988
Steve Shelley & Lee Ranaldo of Sonic Youth discusses The Nihilistics, circa 1989
Quentin Crisp Interview, circa 1988
Galliano Bottle Conversation, circa 1987
Kaz & Me in NYC, Oct. 24, 2006
Kaz & Me go to the Hollywood Halloween Parade, Oct. 31, 2009
Seven Minutes In September Song
Chris T. Fucks With Telemarketers
Vintage Wire Recorder Excerpt, Unknown Family, circa late 1950's
Slim Fast Revolution Commercial
Dennis Quaid Voicemail
Aerial View Side Effects
The reason for the "Junk Drawer" show? I've been out of action with a bad cold since last Tuesday and I thought a bits & pieces show would be easier to produce than recording something new. Joke's on me. Gathering, editing and mixing all the audio that went into this podcast took hours. This newsletter took yet more hours. Friends, this is getting to be too much.
I know I've said in this newsletter that I'd like to get to my 30th WFMU anniversary (July 4, 2016) and walk away but I really don't know how many more weekends I can sacrifice for what is beginning to feel like a vanity project. You've heard this lament before but I have no idea how many of you actually listen to this podcast. I know this newsletter is opened by 15% to 25% of the 436 people it goes to every week. Not being on the air at WFMU has changed my whole perception of what it means to have an audience and to have interaction with that audience.
At this rate, it doesn't appear that I will ever be back on the air at WFMU. I have another foot surgery scheduled for late April, which means I'll miss the next schedule change. I can't say what will happen beyond that but this podcast is beginning to feel like a great deal of work that goes into a void.
What I'm trying to say is that Aerial View is likely in its final days. Allow me to apologize to all of you who are listening and who do enjoy the show. My plan as of now is to make it through the Marathon, so we have a few months together anyhow.
I sit down with the guy who brought me to WFMU, Kaz, to conduct a Q & A all about his new career retrospective, the Fantagraphics book Kaz: From Hoboken To Hollywood. Join us at the Word Bookstore in Jersey City. This discussion will become an Aerial View show, so come on out!
