I think Desgraciados are from Spain. they're released by Deranged Records in British Columbia...

Well there's also Vaginal Penetration of an Amelus with a Musty Carrot, but that one doesn't technically violate FCC regulations.

Why Liz's mic-breaks are good:
They're about the music & conveying information - but they're also entertaining
They're not at all slick, but they are focused - they're well balanced
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:23pm
Liz Berg:

Ah shucks, thanks Michael!
  1:25pm

I enjoy the long rambly mic-breaks too, Daniel Blumin had some good ones when he used to do a 3-hour show on Saturdays

Ken From Hyde Park:

1:42 PM, it's Car Talk Time. A co-worker has a broken bolt on his car's exhaust manifold and he wants to use his AC arc welder to facilitate removing the broken bolt. To make sure the welding doesn't fry the car's computers, is it enough to simply unhook the battery, or are there other actions he must take? I think unhooking the battery would be sufficient.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:45pm
Liz Berg:

If you unhook the battery, the welding will be far less exciting.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:49pm
Liz Berg:

In fact, I would not recommend welding at all, try a laser blaster instead.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:51pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

That's true, Liz. I told him to search the Mythbuster's archives. Welding & lasering on cars is right up their alley.
Avatar 1:53pm
glenn:

depends which electrode he attaches to the manifold.

Brian C.:

More car talk -- this is good: You know the "check engine" light, when it's on how your car won't pass inspection? (I think it's an emissions thing). My light had been on for months, and the car was due for inspex. It miraculously went off after I refilled my gas tank during the supercold weather we had a few weeks back, and the light went off. I think it's due to temperature/pressure. Thanks. Sorry. Didn't know where to share my info but when Liz B said car talk on comments board, bingo.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:14pm
Liz Berg:

When the "check engine" light comes on, I recommend covering it up with a small piece of black electrical tape. (glad you figured out a fix, Brian C!)
Avatar 2:14pm
Alejandroool:

that check engine light can come on for the smallest insignificant things - also the "abs" light can come on just for a dirty sensor on the bottom of the car
Avatar 2:15pm
Alejandroool:

and always remember to check your oil level on long trips kids! Nothing worse than pistons seizing up in the engine...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:19pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

In case Sportsy Talk plays out at some point, maybe Bronwyn C. can host WFMU's exciting new Carsy Talk program.

Get a car diagnostic device. They are cheap, and you can figure it out enough to get it to the dealer. I learned this tip from a friend who manages a Kia dealership.

good tip - some vehicles also sometimes have a key trick that displays a number for diagnostic that you can look up on the interweb. my old van had it - a key in on/off/on again kinda thing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:32pm
Liz Berg:

What are your best tricks for getting your pet or child to eat something that is undesirable to them?
  2:33pm

Easy--wrap it in bacon.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:34pm

When my "Check Engine" light goes on, I tell the Hertz people about it when I turn the car back in.

I once told my daughter she couldn't have salmon. Told her it was for grownups only. Stuck to the story, and finally gave in and let her have some. She literally had the fork to her mouth when she paused, looked up, and said, "Daddy, are you trying to fool me?" I was *this* close!
  2:37pm
Polyus:

Sometimes the check engine light is as simple a matter as tightening your gas cap.
Avatar 2:39pm
Cecile:

Our parents were just "take one bite" and they were fine with it. For animals, maybe wrap the food in some hamburger.
Avatar 2:39pm
Cecile:

That might work for kids, too, but remember to cook the hamburger.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:44pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

My daughter wanted some breakfast before school one morning last fall. She saw some healty-brand frozen waffles and said "Uh-uh." Covered with nice butter and maple syrup, I proceeded to toast one up anyway and brought it up to her. She loves them now.
