	11:41am Brendan: @JP yes but in golden age of vinyl many of the artists used the natural breaks as two separate sequences of music. Of course I was fond of the gatefolds too! The medium was perfect for the art too, I couldn't appreciate something like Tangerine Dreams covers like Phaedra, Rubycon, Ricochet on CD size. Or even the Carpenters, ABBA album covers which were great
	11:41am P-90: @Joe McG and Brendan: agreed about growing up with LPs; and it wasn't just that 40 mins or so (with a kind of "intermission" built in by having to stop and turn from side one to two) became a conditioned way of thinking of a good "standard" format for listening, it was that artists also became conditioned to conceiving and planning their musical projects for that template. And also, in those days when a bazillion visual images and texts weren't ubiquitously available digitally, the LP-size album cover was a good canvas for images and info that were an integral (and tactile) part of the package.

The medium was perfect for the art too, I couldn't appreciate something like Tangerine Dreams covers like Phaedra, Rubycon, Ricochet on CD size. Or even the Carpenters, ABBA album covers which were great
	11:41am P-90: @Joe McG and Brendan: agreed about growing up with LPs; and it wasn't just that 40 mins or so (with a kind of "intermission" built in by having to stop and turn from side one to two) became a conditioned way of thinking of a good "standard" format for listening, it was that artists also became conditioned to conceiving and planning their musical projects for that template. And also, in those days when a bazillion visual images and texts weren't ubiquitously available digitally, the LP-size album cover was a good canvas for images and info that were an integral (and tactile) part of the package.
