Hi Meghan; mermaids; mermen

- i Love all this african music
  7:54pm
ponychamp666:

I've never been bothered by the smell of durian and always liked it! Local asian grocer makes delicious soy-based durian ice-cream.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:54pm
coelacanth:

i've heard fresh papaya tastes good, but i cannot deal with the vomit smell.
  7:56pm
ponychamp666:

papaya is also delicious i implore everyone here to get their fruit on ASAP
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:59pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

I believe papaya aids digestion (papain) - as does pineapple...whereas melons have an enzyme that should be consumed separately from other foods. Fruit salad is a Science, man...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:59pm
coelacanth:

the only fruit i eat regularly is lemon.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:59pm
Meghan:

I had to make rubber molds of papayas..... LOTS of molds from them. no issue with smell....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:00pm
coelacanth:

most of the papain is in the leaves and green rind. most of the bromelaine is in the hard-ish core of the pineapple.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:00pm
Meghan:

We used to feed pineapple to our rabbit because it broke down the fur they digest from licking themselves.....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:02pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Lemon is supposed to help me not have another kidney stone - just as it dissolves teeth...potassium for us over consumers of caffeine & alkyhol &tc. ...& it makes water taste less like something fish reproduce in...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:04pm
coelacanth:

yes. i 've also read that lemon makes water more utilizable in general, by acidifying it. it's also a liver astringent - aiding the flushing out of toxins.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:06pm
coelacanth:

magnesium is of prime importance to prevent stones, also...as well as being vital for strong bones. calcium alone will certainly make bones brittle, as the american diet aptly proves.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:08pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Informative.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:09pm
Meghan:

you can get a lot more of your minerals in your greens than one would think.... though I like roasting my veggies, so I lose most nutritional value
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:11pm
coelacanth:

mmm, i'd love some roasted broccoli right now though!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:13pm
Meghan:

mmmmmm yes.... I roasted green beans the other night with garlic. Fan-freaking-tastic. Ohhhh, it's garlic scape season....

i'm very particular about my saxophones. i've never heard it in ethiopian music and not liked it.

Terrestrial signal not coming through for me
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:28pm

Kimzilla, 90.1 is okay over here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:30pm
coelacanth:

oh! never mind.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:30pm
Meghan:

it does have a haunted vibe!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:33pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

I was talking w/ someone who had been to Africa - & he said the biggest widest theme he got from it was - they are all about Community. They dance together - & would never think of not doing it & being loners like we are...Simplistic I presume as most glib things must be for the largest continent ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:34pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...but - I think you can say they lock into rhythms together & play as ensembles in a way that's different from here...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:35pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

I don't suppose a African mini-metal set is in the cards tonight?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:36pm
Meghan:

I think a lot more of the language is the dances. They aren't self conscious. They are proud and a lot of the dances speak of pride
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:36pm
Meghan:

ha! not tonight sadly.... my mini metal set..... that was so amazing when I found that!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:37pm
coelacanth:

get yer ass over here Ken, we got a mosh pit on!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:39pm
Meghan:

I'll stir up the pit with my microphone for you all
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:40pm
coelacanth:

...i don't doubt that, Rabbit. there're some african brothers here in my town - exquisite drum makers, from ghana i believe....i think their straight-forwardness and friendliness puts some people off who aren't used to it.
