I had a day off yesterday and missed a power outage, yay!!!
  12:45am
JakeGould:

That power outage combined with the day off sounds like a pyrrhic victory in a way.

@JakeGould: the power outage was at work, I am glad I did not have to work without registers or phones or AC.

I ate pastrami and bought purple yarn in Ulster County instead YAY!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:10am

@famous -- Oh cool, love it up there! Had a girlfriend out by Boiceville, got to know some of the area, loved the drive along the 212 through Woodstock to Saugerties. Really beautiful part of the planet.

Reading up on the Space Echo compilation, looks pretty amazing, lots of comments calling it the comp of 2016.

Robin Hardy directed Wicker Man.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:07am

Whoa, didn't realize Neil LaBute directed the hilariously bad Nic Cage Wicker Man remake!

Thank you, @mariano!

Fires overdone? Some guy near me always orders his fries “Light and white…” when he orders them from the Chinese place. But I like them crispy and not overdone.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:12am
mariano:

Didn't realize there was a choice in how fries are done, you've opened up a whole new world of possibility for me @JakeGould!
  2:13am
JakeGould:

@mariano: At hole-in-the-wall Chinese restaurants there are choices. Other places? Not so much.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:15am
mariano:

@Jake: When I was first in NYC and even more broke than I am these days I used to live off of the fried chicken and fries combo lots of Chinese places had for around $2.50 back then.
  2:17am
JakeGould:

Potatoes are good poverty food.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:19am
mariano:

Absolutely... a big plate of rice and beans from the Dominican diner was another favorite. $3, and you get nice toasted Cuban bread with butter on the side.
  2:43am
JakeGould:

@mariano: I wish baked knishes were as common nowadays as there were once back i the pre-1990s in NYC. Like $4 tops for a meal of two decent knishes; one pure potato the other with some veggies mixed in.
  2:51am
JakeGould:

Whoa… They hired someone with a 1970s Brooklyn accent to sing this Bernie song?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:59am
mariano:

Thanks Therese! Nice chatting, Jake and famous original icecreamwolf, good night everyone!
