TDK60:

I think Ameruhkinz are confused by the 2 terms, liberalism and neoliberalism. Liberalism usually refers to liberal politically as in open-minded socially and semi-progressive--sort of in the vein of F.D. Roosevelt or J.F. Kennedy. Neoliberalism refers to an earlier liberal or laissez faire economics as in Adam Smith, right? So neoliberal = unbridled capitalism. Hence, much confusion.
Avatar 4:41pm
Linda Lee:

Joe McG is hitting 21?? that's barely legal! :-D

Nah, neoliberal is in no way liberal, it's just neoconservative w/virtue-signalling to appeal to/confuse real liberals.

Thanks for that Political Compass link, Bronwyn. I just about duplicated the lines of the chart: I'm (barely) an Authoritarian Left. Whatever that means.

@Holly - what's some new NZ stuff you'd recommend?
  5:50pm
Holly from New Zealand:

Yeah I've heard quite a few local bands played on wfmu, The Dead C, Opposite Sex, The Clean, Snapper (one of my ultimate favs)...

modchick65:

I keep hearing her say "Wawa." And it reminds me of Wawa, the convenience store. Not that one shouldn't sing about Wawa the convenience store. In fact, at an old job, three of us would always walk to Wawa for lunch together, and each day there would be a "Wawa Song of the Day." You can sing most songs to include "Wawa" in the lyrics.
Avatar 5:52pm
Rob Kopp:

If there's any 'OLD' NZ-stuff I could recommend it's, beside The Chills, The Tall Dwarfs. This song starts with 1 instrument and ends with 30! www.youtube.com...

modchick65 ~ apparently wawa is equivalent to 'booboo' in english. as i 'i have a booboo'.
  5:54pm
Holly from New Zealand:

@Christine.... The Mint Chicks put out a great album called Crazy?Yes!Dumb?No!... anything from early flying Nun, the Skeptics are spectacular, The Clean, Tall Dwarfs, Chris Knox, definitely check out Snapper, Look Blue Go Purple. More modern (not knowing your tastes) Orchestra of Spheres, Opposite Sex...

song apparently says, kiss my booboo.
