Fender was a WestCoast company - & DickDale pushed amplifier tech like Townshend woudl take it the next step in London... Surf & Drag were also early DropOut DIY Cultures - very Punk...

	8:21pm Flash Strap: The crazy thing about surf is that, while all these counterculture connections are there, there's an aspect of it that's basically a continuation of mood/easy-listening music as well (both it's normative and adventurous impulses, of course). Surf is pure music, pure culture
