I was at a party on the weekend. The Barenaked Ladies song "Brian Wilson" was playing. (!)
Two women were standing next to me.
"Do you know who Brian Wilson is"
"I think he was in the Beach Boys"
"Oh Nice. Is that the name of a band?"
  3:28pm
Laura L:

Per Chicago Manual of Style, there should be no hyphen in "mistake maker." Sorry.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:29pm

You guys, why I oughta....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:29pm

He was hyphenating according to the Scotch Plains Manual of Style.

You gotta go punch the editors at U of Chicago.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:33pm

I checked the title on the Amazon Manual of Style. RRG is correct. Fixed.

You mean Termite Terrace? (Look it up.)

Got the 2 CD set.
Yeah, well acquainted with Termite Terrace. Much wilder than Buena Vista guys.

Carl stalling volume two is actually better because there is complete cartoon soundtracks on it as opposed to just excerpts. And a lot less sound effects and dialogue
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:01pm
Planet Tyler:

Yup, Looney Tunes was definitely a good place to pick up good music!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:01pm
The Oscar:

I remember the first time I heard Raymond Scott, it blew my mind that those themes had TITLES. Stalling's scores were so elemental that I couldn't imagine those tunes not existing. Also, Bugs Bunny was my introduction to a good chunk of the Great American Songbook.
