@coel: I have a bumper sticker somewhere that reads "artificial intelligence beats real stupidity". I never owned a car so I never got to use it. And to tell the truth, the more I deal with AI at work, the more I doubt the message. Maybe we should rebrand it as AS

@Rory: not really. No way anyone is anywhere near being able to do anything nefarious with that deluge of information. Until we reach the singularity, information is processed by programs written by human, and humans are sloppy, dumb, and easily distracted

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53pm
fred:

@steve: like most fears, that one is overrating the odds: it only happened to me once, and I've been living in pigeon-land for 4+ decades
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:57pm
coelacanth∅:

i don't know if pigeons do this, but some birds aim their shit at specific targets, and human heads are always entertaining for them, it seems.
  12:58pm
LaraKouklara:

In Grecce we say it is good luck for a bird to shoot your head xD

Ha, funny Lara, the odds are like winning the lottery but the payout isn't as nice!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:02pm
coelacanth∅:

happened to me, in the middle of an open field i was walking my family's dogs...a lone bird flew by one time - got me perfectly on the top of my head.
  1:03pm
LaraKouklara:

funny thing: when this tragedy happens we say to the target-person to go play a lottery xD
Avatar 1:04pm
steve:

fred its happened to me 3 times in a decade in nyc
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:05pm
coelacanth∅:

(i'd heard it was good luck, but i didn't think about that. all i thought about was getting home quickly and hosing my head off before someone saw me with shit on my head!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:05pm
fred:

@Liz: that's questionable: the one time it happened to me I was with a woman I was very attracted to, she helped me clean up and I guess I reacted with enough humor that we eventually dated, if briefly
  1:06pm
LaraKouklara:

see? there is some Greek wishdom xD
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06pm
coelacanth∅:

Lara if it happened to me today i'd go play the lottery. i was a teenager then and mortified by potential embarrassment.

i was 10 and i didnt even knew what lottery is xD but my teachers said me i should play one!

Merkabah, also spelled Merkaba, is the divine light vehicle allegedly used by ascended masters to connect with and reach those in tune with the higher realms. "Mer" means Light. "Ka" means Spirit. "Ba" means Body.

I used to have a really long hair (but it was like an afro) and a bird also take a big one in my head. I had to travel like 1:30 hours (in rush hour) to get and wash myself. That was definitely not a lucky day (because I was going to buy something and didn't find it)

@Lara: actually she gave up and moved back to france. I think she still wants to try it, but she's not confident about the situation in Greece right now. She can bet her inheritance once, but she's not getting a second chance if it fails

Yes I must admit Fred is right. Not my cat. My cat is elderly and decrepit. When I want to see a playful cat, I have to walk down to the local hardware store or the bodega, or look up GIFs like this.

geezerette:

Fred, you're probably gonna say these guys aren't actual ferrets.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:14pm
fred:

@geezerette: don't take my work for it, it could be his cat! My main fount of doubt was Ike owning that kind of footwear, but I don't know him, so he could be wearing this stuff for all I know

Happy to see that for all of Ike's apparent cynicism regarding the feline sandal commando he at LEAST credits Ike with good taste in footwear!
