OMG, John Kass, a local record store guy played this for me after I played "Don't Take It" by Armando for him.

This should be a premium. The amateur but amazing voiceover premium.

Mathematically putting it down!

Hi Cecile.. Funny Station Manager Ken said he heard this song so many times and didn't realize it was Kool & the Gang. He always thought it was some Strata-East type thing. It's so earnest. I love it!

helloooo duane and everyone!
Avatar 12:08pm

Me too! John and I were talking about 70s funk and how weird and cool the full albums were. Zapp doing country and rock songs, EWF doing this whole thing with the kalimba...

This Ramp album is SO good. Howdy all.

Then again, I don't consider there's conceptually much of a difference b/tn a cover and a remix.
Avatar 12:54pm
Cecile:

DUANE.
Maybe you can do a promo for YouTube or radio using the same MO as the Kool and the Gang song.
Have some very earnest people talking about the Duane Train with apropos background music.
Avatar 12:54pm

These guys are musical geniuses. They turned John Denver into Sly and the Family Stone.

Impressive! Trying my best to not hear the original in my head simultaneously.

Not upscale enough, although I'm sure a bee would appreciate the bud vase for nectar snacking.

Passaic River Blues:

@Kat in Chi-town: well, that's really wonderful to hear! I haven't thought of the guy in a minute but I'm glad he still gets to play a set now and again. I treated Dearborn tapes as precious goods back in high school.
Avatar 1:54pm
Cecile:

Hearing that kind of thing makes me sad that I tried to ignore most of the 90s. But happy for you, PRB, that you had that great experience.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:01pm
Passaic River Blues:

@Cecile: I kind of feel like I've been trying to ignore/blot out long periods of time myself (e.g., 11/9/16 through the present). High school was mostly a trainwreck but at least I had De La Soul, Aphex Twin, and Fats Waller cassettes to see me through.
Avatar 2:03pm

@Passaic River Blues - I hear ya. Selective memory loss for me as well. Music always brings me back.

The middle of that Bonnie & Clyde song was straight outta Clay Pidgeon's Wake-n-Bake show. He has forever spoilt the errant mid-song-sound-effect.

hopefully my app will stop buffering long enough for me to hear Joe Frank
Avatar 2:59pm

I figured it out, I heard an Andre Kostalatnetz (sp???) instrumental version of it.
