Your idea of '3 of a kind' is like those cultures that count "1, 2, many"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:05pm
Webhamster Henry:

We have about 8-10 " here in Kingston.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:06pm

I can live without clearing more snow this winter (but seems I likely won't).

Hello Mary, will we be hearing the Bruce Foxton version of 25 Or 6 To 4?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:13pm
Webhamster Henry:

"In what may be a coincidence, the song's writer, Robert Lamm, had recently written and sung another Chicago hit, "Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?", for which this song's title can be seen to serve as an answer." -- WikiPedia

Hi Spaceman One, unfortunately yes. He did not do a good version, I am sad to say.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:20pm

okay this one's very good
  2:20pm
Dean:

Back in 1970 you couldn't NOT hear this song. It was played constantly. I have to say, too, that Chicago's version has held up. Terry Kath was amazing, and the horns were hot. Wish I'd kept the LPs.
Avatar 2:21pm
Mary Wing:

The voice sounds a little autotuned, though, don't you think?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:21pm
doctorjazz:

It was so present, one wanted to get away from it at the time (at least, this one...). Nice to hear now, though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:22pm
coelacanth∅:

yes now that i'm in the room i hear the autotune. blugh... but it's still good, except for that. makes up for the last 2!
Avatar 2:24pm
Mary Wing:

Why, Bruce, why?
Avatar 2:25pm
Mary Wing:

He also made sure to put his bass really far up in the mix, just cause he can, I guess.

And Marching Band! (Monica used to play marching bands regularly, miss them)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:35pm

Hard to remember when marching bands were only allowed to play Sousa and school anthems. Playing this helped the poor kids feel cool.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:36pm

I have two records of Hal Leonard Marching Band arrangement demos from I think the late 70s and early 80s. Probably found at the WFMU Rec Fair.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:39pm

damn. this one's so close to being really good...just - why the rearrangement toward a major key here and there? bad idea.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:40pm

Hi! Unfortunately, I'm home sick today with my son and not listening. I'll have to circle back for the "25 or..." covers (We played it while we were in marching band too!)

(i'm not sure we thought it was cool, though, david)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:42pm

sorry! it's frustrating! so many good musical ideas in that one but then enough bad decisions on the singer's part to throw it off.

(i mean we thought is was fun, sure, but by the mid-80s, probably not cool :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:44pm

Band leaders just got sick of kids whining about playing pop music and this one was just "brassy" enough to make the case. Eventually I even heard Purple Haze on the football field.
