(@UM: when you come again to NYC in March, you might want to see if you can head over to the Russ & Daughters Cafe - eat at the counter. I think that you would enjoy.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:10am
Uncle Michael:

I'm down to R&D or Barney Greengrass as the finalists for my Sunday lunch. Thanks for the endorsement.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:12am
Jeff Golick:

Can't really go wrong either way. Although R&D has the better room.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:13am

The room is too hip for me.

@UM: I second R&D. That's the first eatery I'm hitting when I go back in the spring (and I'll pick up some stuff to take back w/ me as well).

You will elevate the hipness.

Hey, @northguineahills!

It may come down to a coin toss.

I love relentless. If I had a record label that would be the name.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:43am

Relentless is 1 way to describe it. A technique display that was amazing (at any age) would be another.

180 degree opposite reaction to Cecil Taylor at Victo story I related last week. Audience was thrilled to hear Plimley and Oswald.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:28am
Brian in UK:

John Peel championed The Fall from the very first spin. I still miss JP and his freeform ethic.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:28am
Jeff Golick:

Hey, @Dean. Yeah. Canadians vs. Swiss?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:29am
Jeff Golick:

@Brian: among the many links I saw going around was one that cut together every (?) time Peel introduced a song by the band.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:30am
listener james from westwood:

Enduring loss indeed, that of Peel. He also was supportive early on of FMU's own Laura Cantrell.
  11:32am
Dean:

Yeah, or Braxton fans vs. Taylor's?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:34am
Brian in UK:

james he sure had a soft spot for her. She played live at his house, I believe. Mind you I have a soft spot for her, she was co-hosting on Doug's show when I made my first pledge and said my name. I still blush to think of it.

jeff that would take several shows.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:36am

Music to vacuum basements by.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:37am
Uncle Michael:

My Fall entry point was a cover. I may share it Friday.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:37am
listener james from westwood:

Laura is a beacon as a performer and a DJ. A regular at the Record Fair, a trollish guy who looks like Danny De Vito bred with crabgrass, dared to tell me and a couple of other FMU volunteers and folks, after she performed for the Fair, that she, essentially, sucked. I told him we don't go to his house and shit on things he likes and that he could go fuck himself.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:41am
Brian in UK:

The odd thing is that JP never met Mark Smith. Unless anyone knows otherwise.

james what else could you say.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:42am

Hi Jeff - just caught up. I'll look at that Nonaah article tonight, thanks. (trust me to open my big mouth!)

Hi Brian. pissy and windy. Load of ol' shite, to be sure.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:46am

I took part in the annual RSPB bird count this morning but it was so windy, hardly any of my regular feathered friends turned up for the occasion.

"Book and Beer Club" has a nice ring to it, @Brian.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:49am
Jeff Golick:

This set could well be headlined "DJ turns 50."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:49am
Stanley:

Looks great Brian and the Book & Beer Club sounds like my kind of club.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:50am
Brian in UK:

Stanley, just read a Douglas Botting book, he is a naturalist, boggled how much he knows, plants birds etc.

Jeff heaven and Mr V is such a modest man. Look out for Lean on Pete the film of his book, out March.

I'm getting strong volume changes in my feed. is it just me? Since there are 8 minutes left of the show, I thought I'd address this now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:53am
Brian in UK:

Jeff, it is just a number. Great show. Same time next week.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:54am
Jeff Golick:

Thanks (& hello!) @Listener Gregory. I did just notice that this tune is well into the red...might be human error here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:54am
Uncle Michael:

It sounds stable here, and I have this blasting through the studio playback system.
  11:55am
Listener Gregory:

Thanks, Jeff. The changes are occurring in the middle of songs. It might be a connection problem at my end, as I'm listening through an "internet radio" hooked up to my stereo. There are about a dozen links between the music and my ears.
  11:56am
Listener Gregory:

I got 99 problems and stereo issues are one. I'm enjoying the show nonetheless, especially the Noonah.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:57am
Stanley:

A '99' was never a problem for me. (Obscure ice cream reference)
Thanks Jeff, great stuff.
  11:57am
Dean:

Heh, "passed the bar," old joke. Kinda weird, too, hearing a tough guy refer to a "glove compartment."

Stanley, there is a pub two doors down. It was an old court house. Word is Judge Jeffries popped in.
