	1:47pm DJ GeorgyGirl: I realised when I'd edited the playlist down that the records were considerably shorter than normal so I had nearly five minutes of burbling time between sets. So it's a rambling one this week - hence my need for tea ;-)
	1:47pm Martinibomb: I just got a subscription to Builders.. was drinking barry's but it's kinda harsh. Builders is way smoother. I like non-fancy tea. thanks! I love having Katya around again. Seems like old times

	1:54pm DJ GeorgyGirl: That's wonderful :-) I love the Dutch artist/empty property system as well. A friend of mine used to live in Amsterdam (he's a sculptor) and he lived rent free for nearly three years all over the city.

	2:00pm Jan Turkenburg: Vreemde geluiden has survived as a podcast, now calles Frame Duggy Louder, as it is in English now. But Vreemde Geluiden will return on radio, as an item in a weekly live-show starting of each friday in a few weeks. We're slowly and carefully building up programs.

	2:10pm Rich in Washington: I think we've discussed this here before, but for me, Telstar was the first song where I ever became aware of strange music. I used to love it when that song came on the radio. It was from outer space.

	2:18pm Rich in Washington: I've always wondered if the very early Residents were inspired by Meek. There are so many parallels with the sound of their sound and those of Meek's albums like the Blue Men record. The weird prepared piano, etc. I think a lot of it was expedience, working with what they had and a fairly primitive multitrack tape machine.

	2:19pm Otis Fodder: I do, once I heard Another Day by Roy after TMC, I didn't think another version could break me down as much, but he did. And then I went on discovering his catalog. Many late night listens.

	2:23pm Mr Fab: yeah, what is this thing called "the Residents" anyway? Any original members? Of course we would have no idea. At this point I suppose "The Residents" is a brand as much as a band.
	2:24pm DJ GeorgyGirl: What made me sad about Hardy Fox was the lead up to his eventual passing. That wrapping up of loose ends and sort of saying "goodbye" :-(
	2:24pm Rich in Washington: One original member, sadly. I've interviewed their Homer Flynn a few times, who sounds uncannily like one of the singers.
	2:25pm Katya Oddio: Definitely, Mr. Fab. They always were. When I was with that org, I learned about how scarcity of your brand made increased fanatical demand.
	2:25pm Rich in Washington: I'm mean, now it's just one guy. Hardy sort of stepped out of the shadows and revealed that he was the primary musician and later musical director.
	2:25pm DJ GeorgyGirl: That's it. I'm going to start broadcasting in disguise. ;-)

	2:27pm Rich in Washington: They're/he's sort of trapped in this thing where the only way to make any money is to perform live on the road, something the Residents weren't really suited to. To keep the 'brand' alive, yes.

	2:28pm Rich in Washington: Hardy's passing really affected me in a way that say, Bowie did. Just really an end of an era for me. Probably also how he sort of took the mask off and told us who he was and that he was going.

	2:29pm Rich in Washington: Mr. Fab: there are people who come to the station in costumes, etc. A guy who used to come in in this devil costume thing he'd wear when doing Burning Man type events.

BTW, thanks to each of you for all the camaraderie about stuff we love AND for turning me on to sooooo many other sounds. Love you always for that.

There are so many parallels with the sound of their sound and those of Meek's albums like the Blue Men record. The weird prepared piano, etc. I think a lot of it was expedience, working with what they had and a fairly primitive multitrack tape machine.
