Anybody ever buy a record @ The WFMU Record Fair only to get home and realize you already own a copy? Am I alone in this category? It takes a special human.

Itzall??????
Avatar 1:19pm

(No) I only WISH I could attend that record fair. I would no doubt buy many things that I already own in my zeal! Just got that dark blue, btw.

Kelly, it may not have been at the WFMU record fair, but I've definitely bought duplicate copies of records by accident.

Kelly Jones:

Everybody's doing it!!!!! We should have a special LP swap.
Avatar 1:32pm
Lixiviated Life:

As a kid I used to ride my bike to Grandway or Alexanders and even Korvettes to buy LP's.
Could get records for about $3.00 a piece on sale.
You could have measured my record collection in lbs. (or whatever the metric equivalent is).
Years ago I jettisoned the entire thing along with a lot of psychic baggage.
I felt I'd be better off traveling lite.
Now that I'm an old codger, I sort of feel that buying records would be like wearing bell-bottoms again.
I don't want to re-live my past (it's a dark ride).
I'd rather tell stories about it.
Always a bright and happy ending that way.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:37pm
Kat in Chicago:

Back in the 90s I won tickets from WFMU to see Pizzicato Five at... I forget, maybe Irving Plaza? It was a fun show.

I bought a $3 CD copy of Colin Newman's A-Z at the Fair, but I already had MP3 files on a jump drive.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40pm

I don't even know what a jump drive is LOL. My LPs, CDs & Cassettes (yazzzz!) are my children. They're going in the coffin with me.

jump drive = USB stick, I believe
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:42pm
