Just for the hell of it, I hadda just go watch a clip of Paul Lynde, in a different context altogether, saying, "Animals....they're all animals."

Haha sb/p!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:13pm
Franco Twinkie:

The Animals got psychedelic after that. My sister and the girl across the street saw them at this place called The Carousel, that yes had a revolving stage. Although it was just a couple of months after See See Rider, they were already doing Sky Pilot and Monterey.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:24pm
Franco Twinkie:

That's a good one Kris, I worked with a guy who said he was in The Santana Blues Band. He said he quit to play football at Stanford on a scholarship and broke his leg the first season. End of career(s).

sealed with a kiss?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:36pm
Matt from New Orleans:

Marie Knight was a neighbor of mine. She used to hang out with a bunch of older ladies in the warmer weather when I first moved to Harlem in the mid 90s. I had no idea who she was. But one of the other ladies let me know one day so I tried to find out about her but the Internet was in its infancy. Luckily I went up to the Schomburg library and a librarian helped me find info and I went down to the library of performing arts to listen to old sister Rosetta tharpe 78s in their collection that she had sung on.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:37pm
Little Danny:

Wow, Matt! That's incredible

Matt, another good story!
Avatar 10:42pm
Kris Holmes:

She was also Rosetta Tharpe's lover no?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:46pm
Matt from New Orleans:

I got to know her a little over the years but those ladies were crazy so I never wanted to spend too much time with them. They kept the block in check. They would play cards and roll dice and drink all day long out of coffee mugs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:46pm
Little Danny:

Funny, I think I read that somewhere too, Kris. Sounds like something Nick Tosches would write
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:47pm
coelacanth∅:

haha! sounds like my kind of women!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:47pm
Matt from New Orleans:

Someone made a musical about sister Rosetta and Marie knight
Avatar 10:48pm
Kris Holmes:

I thought I read it in the excellent Sister Rosetta biography?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:49pm
Matt from New Orleans:

that is a fantastic book Kris but I can’t recall
Avatar 10:49pm

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:51pm

I like that video of Sister Rosseta Tharpe plaing her white Gibson SG on the train platform in the rain not giving two shits if she gets electrocuted.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:52pm
Franco Twinkie:

Roy Clark on guitar.
Avatar 10:56pm

Societies Child or Papa Oom Mow Mow - you decide!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:17pm
Matt from New Orleans:

I met Jeff Barry and Ellie Greenwich in the 80s when I was a kid. I was supposed to go see the King and I revival with Yul Brynner but he got sick but the show was cancelled instead of an understudy and the producers didn’t want to give refunds so they gave us tickets to a different show and my mom and I saw Leader of the Pack and Jeff Barry and Ellie Greenwich happened to be at the theater that day and my mom sort of knew Ellie through her first cousin who went to Queens College with her. I had no idea what was going on but lived the show and the music.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:29pm
