Melanie's set @ Woodstock was fantastic. This song written after the display of matches in the rain before her Woodstock set.

John from Florham park:

One of my fav songs thanks Therese
  5:12pm
Jeremy:

so groovy!
Avatar 5:14pm
Sid:

Also a story around that "Look What They Done To My Song (Ma)" was about the shortening of 'Candles' as a single. Still turned out pretty good.

Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Episode efd had few weeks ago with engineer who spent 14 YEARS doing Woodstock Complete boxset is most excellent. Reportedly 1st concert with lighters aloft...Yeah - the whole thing was logistically deranged - but a reassessment is due it seems...
  5:16pm
John from Florham park:

@Sid there is a version of candles in the wind with the Edwin Hawkins singers accompaniing Melanie

Andy Zax! He is a mad genius.

  5:18pm
John from Florham park:

@RRN63 Woodstock was a real clusterfuck but still was pretty damn good

Listener Robert:

Whenever I hear "Lay Down", I substitute "Keep the whitefish flying" a la Robert Anton Wilson for the business about the white bird as I sing the chorus.

Sid:

"The Four Sides of Melanie" released in 1972. Bet the rereleases don't have any funky packaging. Always cost-cuting these days.
Avatar 5:24pm
Sid:

Andy Zax is a mad genius. The sound on the 38-disc Woodstock set is supremely good.

John from Florham park:

@RRN63 yes it was, heard the nythruwasy was a hot mess
Avatar 6:09pm
Sid:

Franco, as I understand it, Neck Bones was something Santana played in their pre-album days frequently and once they had more of their own material, it went by the wayside. It didn't make the cut for their first album. Decent jam,but they've come a long way since then.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:16pm
Franco Twinkie:

Thanks Sid. Like everybody, I've been googling the hell out of Woodstock to fill the gaps and to be part of the conversation. I never knew Santana did that song until this week.
Avatar 6:22pm
Sid:

Yeah, first time I heard Neck Bones was when Santana released their Woodstock set a few years back. It only shows up on early live recordings.

Hey Therese! I remember having the Multiplication Rock album and Blossom Dearie sang the song for the number eight. I probably would have had a harder time with math if it wasn't for Schoolhouse Rock:)
