Favoriting Hinky Dinky Time with Uncle Michael: Playlist from September 27, 2019 Favoriting

Uncle Michael's avatar View Uncle Michael's profile Favoriting

Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

Gonna have to spring for this uke comp. Many years ago as a send-away to a friend who was embarking on a cruise to Alaska, we formed a band, Hula, that performed Hawaiian flavored rock songs (e.g., about diving for pearls). I remember the party started when the cork from a bottle of Champagne crashed through a window of the venue.

My honest to gosh true cop in a donut shop story: I once lived in an apartment with a view of a Winchell's donut shop. One night a tenant down the hall knocked on our door and announced that somebody was breaking into my roommate's car on the street. (Turned out it was my roommate's brother.) We spied a police officer at the Winchell's, so we ran across the street to notify him. Between bites of donut, munch munch, he remarked, "I know. I saw the whole thing," munch munch.
