Favoriting October 26, 2019: Inflatalk Radio
Three hours of spoken word recordings. That’s the kind of talk radio I like, and perhaps you will too. Samuel Beckett radio plays, Boris Karloff, Leonard Nimoy, John Barth, myths, legends, sound poetry, unsound poetry, instructional records, perhaps a piece or two from some of our DJs, these are a few of the things you may or may not hear tonight.

True that, Coel. However, the album jacket in very attractive, and it might give me a little lift just to sit in a chair and admire it.

Birth Of A Salesman also has a good cover, but more of subdued noir effect in grey and green.

I saw Jonathan Winters a couple of times in my younger days. Not performing per se, just milling about town. The man was always "on."

Holy cow. We were just talking about Jonathan Winters at work today. Genius!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:43am

Jonathan Winters scared AND fascinated me when I saw It's A Mad Mad Mad World as a child. I wanted to smash up a gas station and drive a tow truck!
Avatar 12:44am

He frequented swap meets around L.A. My mom and i saw him there a few times. He was always improvising.

FT, which album cover? I work down the street from Farmer John pretty much once a week. It does smell.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06am
Franco Twinkie:

RW. Dr. Johns Gumbo. That photo of him in front of the wall of pigs is pretty much of a rip of the first album cover by Little Feat, which was shot in Venice on Ocean Front Walkway.
  1:10am
rw:

Ah! Cool. The Farmer Johns mural has been repainted since then. Not way different though.
  1:11am

Speaking of Farmer John...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:12am

RW, There is a nice travelling shot of the pig mural in Zabriskie Point, the Antonioni movie.

I keep meaning to see that film. I don't see too many films though. I DID see Wm. Burroughs talk a few times when I was at school in Lawrence, KS.
  1:18am
rich:

if you don't see too many films rw i would hold off on zabriskie point
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:18am
Franco Twinkie:

Man! You can see a movie anytime, Burroughs, not no more. When I was a kid I lived within walking distance of a Burroughs adding machine factory.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:19am
Franco Twinkie:

See the movie. It is an alien look at our city.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:21am
mariano:

Good soundtrack, Zabriskie Point.
  1:23am
rw:

Haha! Now I'm torn. Good news is I see so few movies I may never get to it anyway! And I do like the soundtrack!
  1:23am

a film that seems much longer than it is (and it's not short) so make sure the seats are comfortable

This is a great show Rich. I must admit I was a little skeptical at first!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32am
Franco Twinkie:

As a matter of fact RW, I would suggest a triple bill weekend movie jam session with Zabriskie Point, The Model Shop by Jacque Demy and Cisco Pike by Bill Norton. These are not flawed movies, just a different viewpoint. But I think you of all people, who is a relentless L.A. driver will totally get it. Their above all else about the light and the way in bounces off people and isolates them.
  1:32am

WFMU needs more spoken word shows.
