Alright, ready to inflate the squirrel carcass one last time before the new year. Hi Rich and whoever else washes ashore here.

Hey Rich!

chresti:

Hello! Goodnight soon, gotta get up early to pack the car and go to Frisco
  12:08am
rich:

good morning mariano, jake, chresti, and others. here for you to look at:

JakeGould:

Tom Kiefer’s work is so sad, simple and profound.
  12:15am
rich:

yes it is. hopefully it shows up in nyc. i assume the la skirball is somehow connected to the ny skirball
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19am
mariano:

I really like the photos, thanks for linking them.

Los Angeles Times covered the Tom Kiefer photos earlier this month. He worked as a janitor, collecting stuff secretly.
  12:30am
Dean:

The connection is the donor. I don't believe they coordinate their programming.
  12:32am
rich:

too bad, they should in this instance
  12:36am
Dean:

I met Gloria Steinman at the LA site at a tribute/fundraiser to a now defunct feminist bookstore for whom I volunteered. An impressive venue.
  12:37am
Dean:

Steinman?! OFCOL. Steinem.

One thing I miss about living in NYC is going to galleries in Chelsea, especially on a weekday, when everything's nice and empty. Nothing quite like having a nice toke then going and getting your mind blown by some good art. @Dean: don't feel bad, I did the same thing when I met Jerry Steinfield ;P
  12:42am
Dean:

Thanks, mariano. I do it all the time: Bing Corsby, Jack Nicholman, Meryl Stripe, Steven Spielborg, Rich Hazelman...

@Dean - Haha! Remember the entertainment columnist for the Onion, Jackie Harvey, always getting names wrong?

Damn, New Bomb Turks? Always wanted to see them.

Oh wait, this is when the boat's pulling up to Ellis Island at the beginning of Part II.

Evening! Had to check in to see if Rich was playing animations again. Hey Rich!
  1:49am
rich:

no just from a soundtrack rw. i do have a bunch of animation bookmarked just haven't taken the time to put together an hour or three
  1:58am
rw:

I love those animation shows! Such cool stuff. The only problem is I tend to listen while doing computer work and on animation night I don't get much work done!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:01am
mariano:

@rw: I love the whole design aesthetic of the 50s-60s Looney Tunes cartoons, the stylized backgrounds, the color palettes.
  2:18am
rw:

mariano, that stuff is cool. I have a friend who studied animation. She's a big fan of the earlier Disney stuff. Snow White is pretty amazing visually. All hand drawn. There's something nice about the craftsmanship in the animation of that era.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:19am
mariano:

True, @rw. Fantasia is really gorgeous too.
  2:26am
rw:

Not sure how appropriate it is to plug my friends' stuff here but here's her latest animation, speaking of gorgeous: https://vimeo.com/338469701
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:39am
mariano:

That's really amazing, @rw.
  2:42am
rw:

Right? Her other stuff is worth looking up too. Mostly claymation. But I think Moth may be my favorite.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:43am
mariano:

Was gonna make a quip about former president of Liberia Charles Taylor singing this. Then I remembered: Louis Farrakhan was actually a calypso singer before he turned to religion, performed as The Charmer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:44am
mariano:

It's really something, @rw - 14 months it took her, that's dedication!
