Avatar 12:45am

@SV: Trey Many was the drummer for HNIA for a while, and his band was Velour 100, a shoegaze christian-lite band...
Avatar 12:47am
sv:

ngh, that's certainly piqued my interest. never heard of velour 100 before

mb...yup yup. Hanging in and taking names.
Avatar 12:49am
northguineahills:

Via said band, I found a few 'christian' bands (they were on christian labels) but you'd never hear anything overtly christian about them, take the great band Starflyer 59, a great shoegaze band, the best w/ the brit ones IMHO (they're lyrics aren't dirty). They just hooked their bandwagon onto a label just to record and get a record out. Heck, my friend (an atheist), used to do ambient/experimental eclectronics and at Christian fests just to get paid to get gigs (a lot of musicians w/ xtian connections do this).
  12:50am

A Xian band? Really. Perhaps I’m not in on the joke. I know that Lovetta Pippen is a gospel singer.

northguineahills:

(I grew up in a fundy family)
Avatar 12:51am

i wondered about that growing up [was only allowed to listen to christian metal for a fair chunk of time] - always figured that some of the bands were just latching on to ascend with limper competition

Hello all
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32am
Mr. Pumpy:

Yeah...drone it out. This sounds like a hurdy-gurdy pumped through some pedals and amps. I love it. I've been eyeing a hurdy-gurdy for some time, and this current situation, while taking some cash out of my pocket, may just make me crazy enough to drop some coin on one. Hurd the Gurd!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:37am
coelacanth∅:

Mr.P i did a piece that sounds very much like that -i never thought of the hurdy gurdy but now that you mention it...
anyway it was done by bowing a violin (2-3 tracks) and slowing the tape down to 1/2 speed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:37am
Mr. Pumpy:

Nice transition to Slowdive.
  1:40am
Seamus:

much love. slowdive is so good :
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40am
Mr. Pumpy:

coel, thanks for sharing. Is there any way I could hear that? I love that shit. I have done similar things mostly with guitar. I've used both a bow, and an e-bow. Also done things with my arsenal of pedals cranked up to where I find the sweet spot where sustain and tone intersect.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40am
coelacanth∅:

glenn that sounds like a nice arrangement
- especially if they left refreshments

hmm well Pumpy i had my bandcamp link on my profile but removed it a couple years ago because i decided i didn't like a lot of it, and one day would remaster some of it...a lot of it! ...which i've only started doing a few weeks ago.
that one piece i'm not touching though.

Unfortunately that stuff is buried in hundreds of hours of wav files with no names other than time and date on my desktop computer. I honestly don't think I could find it. All the same, I have plenty of other recorded shite I could share, just not that particular thing. Be on the lookout for email correspondence.

Silly of me to incriminate myself on the trons, but... i'm about to go out and deface a bunch of these 'Thank-you Heroes' placards. One even has 8 insignias and not one for truck drivers. Really irks me that we are getting little mention if any recognition at all.
