	12:18am Fox: I set up my subwoofer and speakers in the attic loft so I don't have to worry about bothering my downstairs neighbors so much. At night I blast one of those 12 hour deep sound tracks on youtube, and it's INCREDIBLE. I sleep amazingly.

	12:27am Fox: I actually time my chores around the house for when I want to be in my bedroom with the bass. The TV is hooked up to that system as well, because good bass is so important for film.
	12:28am Fox: I hate watching a television screen when there is ambient light, so the sunless attic loft is ideal!
	12:28am sv: i've long wanted to rig up a speaker in my apartment that just plays those kevin drumm tracks that are intended to be played at super low volume on eternal loop as a sort of sonic furniture
	12:29am Fox: Ooooooh. That sounds amazing!
	12:29am bren: i would love to hear This Heat take on the whole constitution and the amendments
	12:30am Fox: I was looking into finding a good bass amp that is small enough to be mounted up high, so that I can have good bass in the rest of my apartment without making their ceiling rattle.
	12:33am Fox: Since the shutdown, I've been in my apartment basically 24/7. I was already practically like that, but this experience has changed my frame of reference. Y'know Derren Brown? He can do all sorts of amazing things through subtle suggestion and psychological manipulation. I started looking at my own apartment to see what I was doing to my own brain with my surroundings.
	12:35am duck: that was this heat, cool i was gonna say i felt like i knew the words hah. i've heard drumm mentioned around here before before, can't place... yes to vague sounds and somewhat perceptible sound systems. oh what did you find so far fox
	12:35am Fox: And I decided to treat my apartment not as a storage unit in which I was trapped with all my crap, but the set on which my entire life would be taking place for months, and stage on which I could create an environment of positive feedback loop.
	12:36am Fox: Which is why I made my attic a sound oasis. And I started getting rid of even more of my crap. Having a clear mind free of unwanted influence is better than owning stuff.
	12:37am Fox: @Duck - I haven't found anything yet. I was about to trick out my downstairs, but my roommate moved out and I can't pay my rent. So... no new speakers for me!

	12:44am sv: shut in would be one, so would imperial horizon, so would just lay down and forget it - the list goes on. i subscribe to him on bandcamp so i'd just run through the catalog [avoiding the more aggressive entries for the most part]
	12:45am sv: i want to get rid of a lot of stuff. i also want to learn how to decorate a living space in a comfortable way.
	12:46am BH: currently trying to not obviously stare at a cat as he decides to go under the bed for a minute or so for some reason (also he spent a few minutes around me because I was eating ice cubes and he's a fan of the icemaker)
	12:52am Fox: I have always been a collector/hoarder of sorts. But once I realized how much easier life is when there's less stuff; less to clean, less to sort through, less to think about, it makes life feel lighter.
	12:53am Fox: BH- Maybe he's just friends with the monster under there.

	1:03am ♪Kɛ: Spending so much time inside my apt. is not great. I suspect there is a missing part of my brain required for that type of organization and arrangement. I am the living embodiment of anti-feng shui; I seethe with absolute, unfettered spatial chaos. I must embrace it. Someday I'll be the supervillain to some kind of future home-decoration superhero. Love the show!

	1:18am Fox: Yessss, lighting is key. My apartment has almost all dimmer switches, which really allows you to change the tone.
	1:20am Fox: Kɛ: My favorite super villain(s) of all time are called The Interior League. They break into people's homes and rearrange the furniture in such a way that when the owners come home, the positioning of objects unlocks an inner madness in them and one of the household then murders the rest.
	1:21am Fox: I am an obsessive furniture rearranger, so that really spoke to me!

	1:22am Fox: slugluv - Derren Brown is interesting because he plays it all off like mind reading, but most of it is placing the idea in your head in the first place. He was able to change the political leanings of people by changing their environment.
	1:25am Fox: @Spodiodi - I feel like that would be kind of cheating though? I think it is psychologically important to go throgh your stuff and actually decide you don't want it. The external world effects the inner, and going through your crap and watching yourself get rid of old crap helps tell your brain to delete those files in your brain, because they aren't relevant. Otherwise, all your brain functions will be pointing to folders that aren't there, and it might throw you into a panic at not having your safety of stuff.
	1:28am slugluv1313: @ Fox -- fascinating! i mean, the idea is already there -- but actually doing everything (or even a little!) has been the issue . . . things were kinda getting "normal" for me back in January & was making a bit of progress -- then Covid hit, which threw a huge monkey wrench into everything
	1:32am mariano: Hey spodi, just saw your post, was occupied elsewhere. Fox/slugluv: I'm an amateur magician/mentalist, and you're exactly right about Derren Brown: the real trick is getting the audience to believe in the possibility that he has some sort of psychic power, but like you said it's of course all tricks. The real lesson in magic is that as animals, we humans are verrry easy to fool (including top magicians), especially when we want to believe something is real. So in a way mentalists do have a very real power, but thankfully DB, Luke Jermay, and others use it for good.
	1:32am spodiodi: i hear you, Fox. it makes sense, and i've experienced doing it without cheating. but i'm not too worried. my memory is going, and i'm already panicked most of the time anyway.

	1:37am mariano: Yeah Fox, I've been following that sad story through your posts here and the links you've posted. I'd never heard of him before, don't know much about that world, but I'm glad at least all his malfeasance has come to light.

	1:45am mariano: I did a major apartment overhaul a month or so ago, mainly a closet crammed full of stuff that I hadn't even looked at in a couple of years. For a few days it looked like a bomb had gone off, but after it was all sorted and organized it felt so good. A good house cleaning can be almost like an exorcism of sorts.
	1:46am ToTetsu: This weekend I stumbled on an interesting phenomenon while going through my camera bag. looking through the past 10+ years of cf cards, I was thinking ho much more interested I was to look at these photos because they were still on cards. I'm sure I still have all these photos on harddrives, but I would never go and look at them there. It's making me double think my plan to scan all the momento papers I have around, and then ditch the physical copies.
	1:52am sv: yeah, i regularly experience the same thing with my cd collection. also been experiencing it with music-making gear recently, which is kind of nice.
	1:52am mariano: ToTetsu: I'm like that with my reading material. I totally get the beauty and romance of physical books, but a) there's the environmental issue because of the paper and b) it's just so convenient to have a library's worth of books and magazines on one small device. Plus it makes moving so much easier.
	1:53am Fox: ToTetsu - I think physical copies are important. You could always just collect them all into a scrap book.
	1:57am slugluv1313: @ mariano -- oh hell yeah! re: having stuff cleaned and organized -- like a HUGE Banishing/Hex Breaking ritual :) still just sorting through all the books -- right now just separating fiction, non-fiction, and donations . . . have not come across my copy of "The Handmaid's Tale" but i DID find the photocopies i made of Flying Ointments, etc. from a book i found while working at Tower Books so many many years ago (now i gotta find out if this book is the expert resource i have been hearing about)

	2:10am Fox: I had an ex OD around three years ago, and it was only my OCD paired with my physical impairment from Lyme Disease and my desire to properly Swedish Death Clean my crap properly and not leave a mess behind that kept me alive for the following year and a half. By the time I got half way done, I didn't want to die anymore. I'm still at it, but the inspiration has shifted.

	2:17am slugluv1313: @ mariano -- this is the book, i do not have a copy, but apparently considered a "classic": www.goodreads.com... i do find it odd that Cunningham does not go into more detail about the significance/meaning of the ingredients (thankfully, the two "Magickal Formulary" books i got from Magickal Childe ages ago do discuss the plants, herbs, etc.)

When I'm personalizing a trick to my style, especially if it's occult-themed, I like it to be grounded in something historical. Lust is really informative a lot of this stuff i kinda knew when i was like . . . 11 -- so i am kinda re-learning everything now . . . inspired in large part by my friend who makes all the potions, i asked her HOW she learned so much about plants, etc. -- she said she just started LISTENING
	2:44am Fox: Oh, for those of you local to NJ, I recommend the instagram of swampythings. She's always photographing and explaining local plants. It is fascinating.

	2:56am Fox: When my aunt died, she lived in the house that she'd grown up in, and there was just generations of CRAP that nobody wanted to throw out, but was utterly useless. I had to talk my cousins into taking boxes of fabric. It puts those behind in this weird realm of guilt. Suddenly everyday crap is thought to possess some deeper significance. But it doesn't. It's still just too much stuff.

	2:58am slugluv1313: can totally relate too -- my parents were not hoarders, but had a lot of stuff, still dealing with much of it and Grandparents' stuff too some was easy to just get rid of (like a five shelf storage cart stuffed with boxes of my Mom's grocery coupons -- dating back to 1975!) but had to sort through a lot, because the important stuff was mixed in with the crap

	3:00am coelacanth∅: mariano my father never rented storage units. along with small things he hoarded big things. he had 2 houses (one which he never lived in and sold for a >$10,000. loss within a few months, 3-4 cars, 4 boats (i don't mean little boats). so he filled those spaces too. he wasted per year more than i live on per year; and died in significant debt. - is you mom still amongst us?

	12:18am Fox: I set up my subwoofer and speakers in the attic loft so I don't have to worry about bothering my downstairs neighbors so much. At night I blast one of those 12 hour deep sound tracks on youtube, and it's INCREDIBLE. I sleep amazingly.

	12:27am Fox: I actually time my chores around the house for when I want to be in my bedroom with the bass. The TV is hooked up to that system as well, because good bass is so important for film.

	12:28am sv: i've long wanted to rig up a speaker in my apartment that just plays those kevin drumm tracks that are intended to be played at super low volume on eternal loop as a sort of sonic furniture

	12:30am Fox: I was looking into finding a good bass amp that is small enough to be mounted up high, so that I can have good bass in the rest of my apartment without making their ceiling rattle.
	12:33am Fox: Since the shutdown, I've been in my apartment basically 24/7. I was already practically like that, but this experience has changed my frame of reference. Y'know Derren Brown? He can do all sorts of amazing things through subtle suggestion and psychological manipulation. I started looking at my own apartment to see what I was doing to my own brain with my surroundings.
	12:35am duck: that was this heat, cool i was gonna say i felt like i knew the words hah. i've heard drumm mentioned around here before before, can't place... yes to vague sounds and somewhat perceptible sound systems. oh what did you find so far fox
	12:35am Fox: And I decided to treat my apartment not as a storage unit in which I was trapped with all my crap, but the set on which my entire life would be taking place for months, and stage on which I could create an environment of positive feedback loop.
	12:36am Fox: Which is why I made my attic a sound oasis. And I started getting rid of even more of my crap. Having a clear mind free of unwanted influence is better than owning stuff.
	12:37am Fox: @Duck - I haven't found anything yet. I was about to trick out my downstairs, but my roommate moved out and I can't pay my rent. So... no new speakers for me!

I am the living embodiment of anti-feng shui; I seethe with absolute, unfettered spatial chaos. I must embrace it. Someday I'll be the supervillain to some kind of future home-decoration superhero. 	1:22am Fox: slugluv - Derren Brown is interesting because he plays it all off like mind reading, but most of it is placing the idea in your head in the first place. He was able to change the political leanings of people by changing their environment.
	1:25am Fox: @Spodiodi - I feel like that would be kind of cheating though? I think it is psychologically important to go throgh your stuff and actually decide you don't want it. The external world effects the inner, and going through your crap and watching yourself get rid of old crap helps tell your brain to delete those files in your brain, because they aren't relevant. Otherwise, all your brain functions will be pointing to folders that aren't there, and it might throw you into a panic at not having your safety of stuff.
	1:28am slugluv1313: @ Fox -- fascinating! i mean, the idea is already there -- but actually doing everything (or even a little!) has been the issue . . . things were kinda getting "normal" for me back in January & was making a bit of progress -- then Covid hit, which threw a huge monkey wrench into everything

Fox/slugluv: I'm an amateur magician/mentalist, and you're exactly right about Derren Brown: the real trick is getting the audience to believe in the possibility that he has some sort of psychic power, but like you said it's of course all tricks. The real lesson in magic is that as animals, we humans are verrry easy to fool (including top magicians), especially when we want to believe something is real. So in a way mentalists do have a very real power, but thankfully DB, Luke Jermay, and others use it for good.

	1:45am mariano: I did a major apartment overhaul a month or so ago, mainly a closet crammed full of stuff that I hadn't even looked at in a couple of years. For a few days it looked like a bomb had gone off, but after it was all sorted and organized it felt so good. A good house cleaning can be almost like an exorcism of sorts.
	1:46am ToTetsu: This weekend I stumbled on an interesting phenomenon while going through my camera bag. looking through the past 10+ years of cf cards, I was thinking ho much more interested I was to look at these photos because they were still on cards. I'm sure I still have all these photos on harddrives, but I would never go and look at them there. It's making me double think my plan to scan all the momento papers I have around, and then ditch the physical copies.

	1:52am mariano: ToTetsu: I'm like that with my reading material. I totally get the beauty and romance of physical books, but a) there's the environmental issue because of the paper and b) it's just so convenient to have a library's worth of books and magazines on one small device. Plus it makes moving so much easier.

	2:10am Fox: I had an ex OD around three years ago, and it was only my OCD paired with my physical impairment from Lyme Disease and my desire to properly Swedish Death Clean my crap properly and not leave a mess behind that kept me alive for the following year and a half. By the time I got half way done, I didn't want to die anymore. I'm still at it, but the inspiration has shifted.

	3:00am coelacanth∅: mariano my father never rented storage units. along with small things he hoarded big things. he had 2 houses (one which he never lived in and sold for a >$10,000. loss within a few months, 3-4 cars, 4 boats (i don't mean little boats). so he filled those spaces too. he wasted per year more than i live on per year; and died in significant debt. - is you mom still amongst us?
