	👻 9:32am Handy Haversack: While I don't like dougnuts (or sweets in general), a legal agreement one makes on taking a lease in Greenpoint is that one will eat doughnuts ONLY from Peter Pan, the best doughnut shop in Brooklyn. An interesting legal codicil is that when taking a lease in Brooklyn you agree that anything that's the best in Brooklyn is ipso facto the best in the world. Got me with the legal mumbo jumbo.

	👻 9:37am YETI BOB: @HH: Most of my family is in NY (Hudson and Brooklyn) and as you know I'm in Chicago. They have a hard time believing that there is anything of value west of the Hudson. Honestly I find that kind of New York provincialism infuriating! It's a big big world. I'm not huge on donuts in general but I'm partial to the lemon-pistachio old-fashioned at Stan's Donuts - an LA institution which opened up a branch in Chicago. I don't think you have Stan's in NYC.

	9:41am Phillippe Bastille: @Peter Oooh those look good! I have to admit, though, that donuts are a whim thing for me and making my own requires too much planning. We have a Thai restaurant nearby that took over a space that had been a donut shop, and they decided to keep making the donuts. They do both the donuts and Thai food very very well, and often there's a line out the door. Definitely some interesting smells coming out of there when they switch over from making donuts to lunch. Bonus is if you go there for dinner and they have any donuts left, you get a free one for dessert!

I was wondering if they had a place in a donut conversation. Definitely going back to NOLA, as soon as it seems reasonable to do so. I love that trip. What do you think of Cafe Beignet? I go there sometimes when the line at DuMonde is too long. Ok, no joke, now my wife wants a donut, so we're going out for coffee and donuts (nothing fancy, just the local coffee shop. I don't know where they get their 'nuts from). I'm running low on comments, so, good-bye jazz-fiends and donut-heads! I love all of you!!

This early seventies thing did'nt get noticed the first time and you talk about friends of like Dealney and Bonnie who had records out like we're supposed to remember who they are. Then you play this long winded free jazz stuff that really grates on my nerves. And that noise without a beat and sounds like someones being pinched. Then you play a reggae song, I think you called it Dub, to what, be cool? You seem to really fetishize the whole folk thing too which is obnoxious to us who don't even care. Honestly I find that kind of New York provincialism infuriating! It's a big big world. I'm not huge on donuts in general but I'm partial to the lemon-pistachio old-fashioned at Stan's Donuts - an LA institution which opened up a branch in Chicago. I don't think you have Stan's in NYC.

	9:41am Phillippe Bastille: @Peter Oooh those look good! I have to admit, though, that donuts are a whim thing for me and making my own requires too much planning. We have a Thai restaurant nearby that took over a space that had been a donut shop, and they decided to keep making the donuts. They do both the donuts and Thai food very very well, and often there's a line out the door. Definitely some interesting smells coming out of there when they switch over from making donuts to lunch. Bonus is if you go there for dinner and they have any donuts left, you get a free one for dessert!
