Big thanks to Chris G of NYC for his post-game pledge!

Can anyone ID today's mystery LP-under-the-cassettes? It's an obscure one, but if you do know it, it'll be easy to recognize.

Hey, JtotheK! I have just issued you a valid, up-to-date opportunity permit. That'll be $20, please.

Well, most likely no one will be able to guess today's mystery LP, so I'll give the game away: It's Rémi Chaudagne's "L'Ile des Temps" www.discogs.com...

really like Inside the Surface and there's a few videos of them playing live

Avatar 12:37pm
Tony Coulter:

Jeez: This is what happens when I take tracklists off of Discogs, instead of looking at the cassette itself. Just checked the insert in my cassette and the cut "Clignetrip" (in the last set) should be (of course) "Clique Trip."
Avatar 12:37pm
Tony Coulter:

Hey, Dane! I'll have to see those videos!
  12:39pm
Dane:

It did sound like they were saying Clique Trip
Avatar 12:41pm
Tony Coulter:

That's why I checked. I use discogs for my tracklisting because that way I can copy and paste ... but there are plenty of f'ups on there.
  12:47pm
Dane:

They've got a few what would have been fairly new and expensive synths that they're not playing nearly enough in those live videos

Th' Hiss! Hi ev'ryone !
Avatar 1:51pm
Tony Coulter:

Hola, Ynod!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:56pm
fred:

@Ike: I think you'll appreciate this stupid piece of news from France: bookshops were ordered to close, but supermarkets were allowed to sell books. Bookstores complained, so the government banned the sale of books, except online. So their idea of defending bookstores is to give a legal monopoly to Amazon. Head, meet nearest hard surface.
And I'm not even getting into the very idea of banning the sale of books
Avatar 1:57pm
Tony Coulter:

Yikes! (Hey, Fred!)
Avatar 2:01pm
Ike:

@fred, wow, that's incredibly stupid. I bet Fox News will LOVE that one, even though your current government is centrist, right? (They'll leave that part out.)
  2:01pm
Dean:

Leaders are dicks. It's that simple.
Avatar 2:03pm
Tony Coulter:

Hey, Dean!

Your comment reminds me: I recently saw a bumper sticker that said "I miss Nixon."
Avatar 2:04pm
Tony Coulter:

I guess maybe this The Kitchen-Musique Associative tape is more Fourth World than Plunderphonics.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:05pm
fred:

@Ike: It's actually pretty hard right. But I guess being the only choice except for neo-nazis makes one a centrist, in context
  2:08pm
Dean:

I think I get the gist of that bumper sticker, a sort of puff pastry, delicate layer upon layer, of irony. I suppose the person who affixed it opposes any whiff of "purity" in politics. Fuck those people.

By the way, I'm not following today's goings-on, and I'm hoping to remain ignorant of the outcome for as long as possible, at least a week.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:08pm
fred:

And I actually voted for the guy, unfortunately the left here is very xenophobic and nativist, which I can't stand
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:11pm
fred:

@Dean: I though I had a foolproof plan last time: getting heart surgery. First thing I heard waking up was that Trump won (overheard nurses talking about it). Fail
  2:12pm
Dean:

That behavior, @fred, ought to be a violation of the nurses' duty to their patients.
Avatar 2:15pm
Ike:

@fred, yikes. That would be incomprehensible to most Americans but I realize European politics are very different and have weird factions. Though I was not huge into Bernie Sanders, I actually think he appealed to a lot of disaffected blue-collar people here who have drifted to the "right" because they saw him as potentially like that, even though he wasn't. Effectively being a human Rorschach blot is always a winning political strategy and he talked in a way that broke through to nativist-but-economically-left people without being threateningly "professional" to them. People don't realize it's all about class here now. Or mostly.
  2:16pm
Dean:

Amen, @Ike.
  2:17pm
Dane:

@fred "the left here is very xenophobic and nativist" sounds more like populism. The left is egalitarian (almost by definition) which should be inclusive.
Avatar 2:18pm
Ike:

@Dane based on what I've read, it sounds like there's a surprising amount of anti-intellectual leftist populism in other countries, e.g. Venezuela. Hard to imagine for an American like me.
  2:20pm
Dane:

populism sure but "Left" politically has a definite history that is egalitarian at it's core
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:21pm
fred:

@Dane: Yep, the left's "leader" here is a narcissist populist who shows how much he despises his votes by pretending to have a hard time speaking correct sentences while he's very rich and highly educated. I'm fucked. I'm still going to vote for anyone who doesn't play to racism, even if it favors the rich. Priorities. But it sucks
Avatar 2:21pm
Ike:

Agreed @Dane, which is why I say Chavez et al. are fake leftists. Just IMHO.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:23pm
fred:

@Ike: Not sure they're fake leftists, but sure they're not my friends
Avatar 2:26pm
Ike:

@fred, well said.
  2:28pm
Dane:

Yes well there are always differing opinions about policy, but authoritarianism has no place in the actual "Left" The term was literally created to oppose the monarchy and aristocracy
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:29pm
fred:

Look what I got in my mailbox: the latest issue of Dissent! I was afraid it'd get lost in the pandemic, but my postman knows me and retrieved more unlikely stuff before
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:35pm
fred:

Support your post office worker, they can work magic. I once got a letter from Eastern Europe that got the street and postcode wrong somehow, and music with similar issues many times. I guess if it comes from a weird address, the post office figures it's for me
Avatar 2:42pm
Tony Coulter:

I live on Morrison St., and a friend has sent scores of postcards and packages to "Morrissey St." All but one has reached me (at this point, I think he's doing it deliberately.)
