That is a great picture of Wally. I guess the guy was swimming in it from an early age.
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:13pm
Jan Turkenburg:

aha, are you a specialist on pop music history in Groningen, PK?
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:16pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

No, it's one of the over 250.000 photos belonging to an archive of press photos made by a photojournalist bureau in Groningen. It also contains regular press events like fires, accidents and duivenmelkers die hun 50 jarig jublieum vieren.
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:17pm

But we do have a special pop archive inside the regional archives: www.poparchiefgroningen.nl

Owww... thanks! That needs some exploration from my part :-)

I wouldn't want to live in one of their former colonies right now...

We even used to have a volcano! Krakatoa in Indonesia.
Avatar 1:04pm

Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 1:19pm
Jan Turkenburg:

There will be more in the future, Mr Fab. I've been digging into his work and I discovered that I didn't know his best work yet. Now I do!
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 1:20pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Of course we've heard him lots of times here as singer of The Outsiders, but his solo work was something completely different.
Avatar 1:22pm
Mr Fab:

Glad to hear that, Jan!

I learned about Wally from the great Boston garage rock revivers The Lyres. Their leader Jeff Connolly is a big fan, not only covering "Touch" but getting Tax to perform on it with him. How an American band in the '80s learned about him, I have no idea...

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32pm
Franco Twinkie:

We went over this before Fab, but The Lyres were one of those bands held in high regard, and believe me, by that time I was kind of burnt around the edges. But they could do it to me! I walked through the snow to see them play at Maxwells, and I'd do it again, no hesitation.
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 1:32pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Hi captain mike!
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 1:34pm

all things considered I personally think Bettie Serveert is the Shocking Blue of the 90s-00s.

Hi Jan! To all those Lyre-O-Philes out there Ever wonder why the Lyres have had so many band members?
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 1:34pm

Yes, The Lyres album that features Wally Tax doing Touch has a Pete Frame breakdown in the gatefold and it alludes to some... um, erratic behavior.
