Bob - thanks SO MUCH for asking.
Makes me feel part of the family.
Thanks again.9:24am : ok thanks, hi :)9:26am : Its a little staticy here but it came back ok.
I hear you Doc Rock, I hope you're on the mend!9:27am : As far as Laura goes - I agree with Jeff.9:27am : @Bob I did like it.🥁 9:29am : Nyro viewed this album harshly, but I love it.9:29am : what a song!9:31am : This Yardbirds tune was one of those innovative break-the-boundaries tunes. Completely new sounds, back then.9:31am : "Ives was on the stereo". In his book Stamey elaborates that it was Charles, not Burl.9:32am : Hmmm, a Yardbirds song I hadn't heard. Nice. Great show Bob. @ Doc Rock, hoping you rebound!9:33am : Wm. they say artists are their own toughest critics.
I say they may not be the best critics!
Morning Jim Macnie,
TDK60-agree!
Joe M.- funny! before I read the book I heard "voices on the stereo."
Thanks Peter9:37am : I remember John Rubinstein in the TV series Family. That would be interesting to watch again.9:40am : ooh, I love crayon angels9:41am : I liked that show too Melinda. He played a real lowlife, a wealthy lowlife.9:42am : 'family' was on the decades channel last weekend as their binge watch.9:42am : Thanks PFDNJ9:42am : Unbelievable! I was just talking about Judee Sill the other day with a close friend.
Another name I want to throw out is Essra Mohawk. Bob, or anyone, any thoughts? Have you ever heard Primordial Lovers?9:44am : Too bad I missed it dale. Like Essra Mohawk too, Jeff did you show that on your FB page?9:44am : Darn, Sheena's Jungle stream just finished Stan Freberg's "Green Christmas". Well, there's always the archive.9:45am : @dale wish I could have seen that, I was little when it first aired but I remember liking it9:46am : Try Wiki for Esra Jeff.9:46am : Good morning Bob & fellow Brainiacs. I’m about to start decorating my Christmas tree while listening with you all.🎄🥁 9:46am : The first Essra Mohawk single is wacky.9:47am : Yes, Bob. I’ve actually been communicating with her the past week. That’s a whole other story!9:47am : Hey Bob! Hey everyone!9:48am : Oof, Doc Rock, did you find out whether it was an ascending kindney infection or a descending (hematogenous) one?9:48am : i didn't watch any of it, but i remember from the 70s that it was like a dark version of 8 is enough.🥁 9:49am : What? Stanley Cowell died? Ugh.9:51am : Dale, I just glanced at it, only remember one scene with the visiting grandma in the bathtub and all the kids in the bathroom talking to her.9:51am : Yeah, Family wasn't your typical soap opera drama, it had some substance.
Hey HopeWithFeathers,
Ah, Jeff so that's you with the Laura & Joni! Nice!
Hey Denny, hey Listener Robert.
dale that's an interesting way to put it.9:52am : @ listener Bob - I have no idea what kind it is.9:54am : Aw, I was hoping "Doc Rock" meant MD. Anyway, an ascending kidney infection comes up the urinary tract, while a hematogenous one comes from the bloodstream. They have different implications for the likelihood of recurrence and other illnesses.9:55am : Hey Dennis!9:55am : Yeah, Bob, that’s me. Did I ever tell you that one of my friends had Laura Nyro as her camp counselor at sleep away camp in the Catskills early ‘60s? Also, Doc Rock is lifelong friends with Laura’s percussionist Nydia Mata. So, I’m sorta connected to Laura in a six degrees of separation kind of way.9:55am : @dale I like that description9:57am : Hey Andrew!9:58am : The value of that bathroom scene for exposition was the implication that, if the kids and grandma were so intimate, they'd be exchanging info they didn't trust to tell the generation in between, i.e. the kids' parents. Neat story trick, beats some omniscient voice-over.9:58am : @Listener Robert - Sorry not an MD.
But thanks for the information.9:58am : Good morning, Bob, and playlist friends. Great show, as always, Bob! I was singing along to Steely Dan while doing my morning stretches. It really does help!9:58am : Yo BB: I don't know if you know or not, but in case you don't, here's a little heads up. coming Tuesday 29th, is the DOD of Norma Tanega. So you might want to put together a little tribute for her in next Saturday show, if you're interested in doing so. or not?.9:59am : Wow, what a great tune, Bob!10:01am : A friend posted an ad from 1917 for The Cave Room in the Hotel Grunewald on Baronne Street in the French Quarter. The Cave Room was actually a real cave that the hotel had converted to a club or dining room and the featured band was "Olsen's Banjo-Saxophone Quintette". THAT is a venue I would kill to see.10:03am : Well Bob if we weren’t all 100% awake yet, we are now...10:03am : You'd think a hematogenous kidney infection would be worse news, like OMG, I have septicemia! But actually not so, it can be just a random occurrence of one kidney's filtering out a few bacteria that then set up an infection there. Meanwhile an ascending kidney infection is usually the result of a longer process of infection starting lower in the urinary tract and proceeding against the flow upstream, indicating a weakness there.10:03am : Doc Rock = PhD in rock and roll10:05am : I think Dave the Spazz wants to sample "the voice of the trapped monkey".10:06am : Hi Bob and everyone.
Enjoying the show!10:06am : ...OK ! Got my diddleydang hopeful astrology postings done ...here in time for ...absolutely horrific screams of distress! Saturday Matinee Time...10:09am : Pretty cool Jeff. I got to see her at The Turning Point. Just Laura and her keyboard. Magic!
I think it's the only show there I saw that wasn't NRBQ!
Thanks Wendy & howdy.
KPx, I'll pull some Norma. Thx.
Hey David in ATL from NJ,
HeyP-90 & Really Lisa,
Revolution Rabbit Nov6310:09am : Listener Robert - I had one teeny leetle kidney stone - but I had no concept of what might be happening before diagnosis - & you have 101% of my empathy & well wishes.10:12am : Camp Nyro !10:12am : Sorry about the confusion, Rev Rabbit, but I'm not the one with the kidney infection, I was just explaining things for Doc Rock, who does/did have one. However, with the size of my prostate, I may be headed for an ascending one some day!10:13am : Just discovered you're back on the air. No better gift to start the holiday season!! Finally, a reason to listen to Saturday morning radio again.10:13am : greetings from really sunny Tannersville.
woke up and saw the monkees sing Riu Chiu this morning.10:13am : OK well were needed then.10:13am : *wHere10:14am : @ Listener Robert, Thanks again for all of the medical information. I’ve been trying to talk to the doctor about it. But, Christ you know it ain’t easy, you know how hard it can be, to get these guys to talk to you / me.10:14am : This Dion always stops me in my tracks. Nice to hear it.🥁 10:14am : I love Dion's Folk/Rock period. Overlooked.10:18am : @Wm.fromDumont
Absolutely agree!10:18am : @Listener Bop Monroe
Morning neighbor, Reeders :)
Hi Bob. :)10:19am : Thanks Tim!
Hey Listener Bop Monroe
Agree Wm. took me awhile to find it, besides the later hit.
Hey Zetti,10:20am : can never go wrong with bird in the AM.
Gday Mr. BB!10:20am : @DocRock - well don't let them crucify you brother!10:21am : Rockin' Bob.10:22am : Doc, usually it's a matter of the doctor's thinking s/he's wasting both of your time by explaining details you'd have no way to act on. Under some conditions I've gotten permission to intermediate between doctor and patient with communication. Maybe we can work something out. Usually that's best done by your primary care physician, but if you don't have one that can be a problem, in that the ER docs can figure they'll likely never see you again.10:22am : good morning10:23am : Morning Yes,10:23am : Doc, were you enrolled (that you know of) in an electronic charting program? That could help.10:23am : @ Tim Brosnan Never gonna happen.10:23am : Yeah Dion rewriting FolkRawk History as we thot we knew it.
...is my favorite Yardbird JeffBeck ...or CharlieParker...10:25am : OMG, thank you for Rope Ladder...10:25am : ropeladder to the moon...!10:25am : Morning Bob & all!
That Chambers Brothers was FIRE! Had me dancing in the kitchen.10:26am : Jack ❤️❤️❤️🥁 10:26am : I've never heard this version. Wow!10:26am : Yes!10:26am : Yr welcome phat, just read his bio.10:26am : Hey vanya moscow10:28am : Lurking and loving the show as usual this Saturday morning. Great version of Rope Ladder to the Moon!10:29am : If everybody he says he's no good he probably isn't that good.10:29am : Is the greatest girl group record, ever?10:29am : As far as Jack Bruce goes, once again I’m with Jeff.10:31am : Also the name of a documentary about Bruce's life! I'm with Jeff too. JB was (and still is) a favorite!10:31am : Always enjoy the captain. Thanks Bob10:32am : Thanks Irene, back atcha!
Hey Woo, Uncle Michael,
Great to see all the love for Jack Bruce!10:32am : Yr welcome JG.10:33am : Had "Songs for a Tailor" on 8 track bought as a cut out I'm proud to say!10:36am : the ginger baker doc has a great section on his and Jack's 'relationship'.
and howdy zetti and Ms. Irene T!10:38am : A new KG&LW album this morn?10:39am : Thot Beefheart was maybe Taj Mahal there one second...
My Goodness what a freakin' great Program.10:40am : holy cow.... another KG&LW super-jam!10:40am : TDK60, well, brand new album called K.G. I've played some things from it recently. Now a new song put out~after~ the album.
Thank you Rev!10:41am : Loved that Travelin' Shoes track - a new one for me. Seemed reminiscent of Seeger's "Waist Deep in the Big Muddy".10:41am : When will the evening album be out, Bob?10:42am : Yes. Really great show 2day Bob.10:44am : 'i am the gizzard king, i can do anything'10:44am : TDK60, ha! Not sure anyone is as prolific. Although...in the 60s it was 3 albums a year for a lot of bands!
Thanks Doc Rock!10:44am : Eric Dolphy was so overlooked by the listening public but not by the players. They all dug him!10:46am : Seeya BOb, don't believe everything you you read !10:48am : I don't think I've heard that Chiffons song since the '60s! You've got some super-swell jams goin' on today for sure, Bob.10:48am : Dolphy into Stravinsky! nice!10:49am : Kpx, learned that lesson when I went with a Wiki birthdate of a musician that made no sense to me but I didn't cross check it right away!
Thanks Rusty!10:50am : minus one of you .10:51am : When a Stones song could cut a swath of relevance thru society.10:51am : Thanks northguineahills, all the Jazz cats knew and dug him.10:51am : The sequence of Dolphy into Stravinsky into the Rolling Stones is pretty impressive.🥁 10:52am : Mono is the way.10:53am : I got it from a girl at summer camp once.10:54am : Igor to the Rollings. Whoa.10:54am : And the Classical cats dug Jazz. Nice!
Thanks Fredericks!

Take care all.10:57am : Now you got me dancing I’m gonna tangle up the light strings.10:57am : Bob maybe you can refresh my memory about who we were there to see the night you & me & FXO & brother John met at Maxwell's. Was it the Bird & the Bee? 'Cause I know I did see them there with Frank & hadn't heard of them 'til then.10:58am : Merci beaucoup for all the great jams.10:58am : Thanks DJ BB.10:58am : Thanks Bob & skeltons!
