Does anyone know at what point
a snow fall
becomes a blizzard?
Are there metrics?
  6:26am
Rob from Maryland:

Stay warm up there! I saw wind chill predictions of -5 to +5. That is cold!
  6:26am
LiXiviated Life:

Wind speed ?
Precip volume?
  6:26am
Rob from Maryland:

@LiXiviated, yes, there are metrics. Give me a second to get the definition

Rob from Maryland:

  6:28am
Rob from Maryland:

A blizzard is a snowstorm on steroids. The term blizzard may be tossed around casually, but to officially qualify as a blizzard, a storm has to meet the following three criteria:

1. Sustained wind or frequent gusts of 35mph or greater.

2. Considerable falling and/or blowing snow reducing visibility to under a quarter mile.

3. These conditions have to continue for at least three consecutive hours!

@ Rob from Md
Thank you
  6:33am
Toothgrinder Tom:

And there used to be a fourth criteria, it had to be twenty degrees or lower - but that was dropped at some point.
  6:35am
LiXiviated Life:

I especially appreciate that there are
3 criteria.
It’s an elegant simplicity.
Everything should have
no more than 5 defining criteria.
  6:37am
Rob from Maryland:

@LiXiviated, your welcome! I agree on simple elegant criteria

Woof-Mew all you Animaniacs. Just shoveled for an hour in the dark. 10 degrees in Pike County, PA. Better to do it now as temps are only going down & the wind will be kicking up. Be careful out there Easterners..I guess you are going to get hit the hardest. i see my little strays prints all over the snow so she must have a warmer place to be than I am offering. She's eating well as we feed her several times per day and night. Once we get a warm stretch I'll try to capture her.

@dday, I hope you can capture your stray. Here there's maaaaybe 2 inches of snow on the ground, with less on the driveway & car tops. Shoveling (after 9 am of course) should be easy, though quite cold

The Tyger With a Y

Tyger Tyger, did I spell it right,
Just after midnight in the forests' night;
What immortal hand or eye,
Could help me win at Wordle?

My mother always gets it in 4.
Tom at Work gets it in 3 he's so lucky
On what wings dare he aspire?
He guessed PERKY in two? I have roaring to do?

And what shoulder, & what art,
Could twist the sinews of thy heart?
SINEW doesn't fit because I already guessed S
What dread letters? & what dread vowels?

I start with AEGIS which means something I don't know
In what furnace was my brain?
What the mount? what the hell is a Knoll?
I am on my sixth guess I cannot guess AGAIN

Apparently you can use letters twice I did not know
I feel like this game mocketh me
Did he smile to see me struggle?
The Tyger hath rent my soul asunder for thee?

Tyger Tyger you're not a word that fits,
Roaring loudly as my chances are the pits:
What immortal hand or eye,
Dare I buy another vowel, Vanna White?

Wait, did she say Stormy has “smelly white mittens and socks”?!

Storm looks like a heck of a guy!!

I never saw What's New Pussycat? Did I miss anything?

Webhamster Henry:

This show needs to play the theme song from Chi's Sweet Home.

That movie hasn't aged well, TDK60.

SM Ken, Handy's doxxing me! 🙈 Princess Missy would not tolerate another feline presence. At least not meow. I'm head over heels for her lovable, sassy butt!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:43am
Handy Haversack:

Yeah, that would be my guess, too, TDK60. Though I admire its commitment to egg salad, the world's best salad.

Thanks, “snowy white mittens and socks” is a teensy bit less disturbing
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:49am
Amanda:

Besides being horribly sexist, What's New Pussycat contained too few cats for my liking.

isn't jump jump off debbie's kookoo album about her doggie?
