Oops, I'm a goof... I read that as "transmitter" rather than "antenna." A long time ago, WFMU published some excellent reception tips, including putting the leads of your indoor dipole antenna into a sliced-open potato. I wish I could find that article now. It's still around somewhere. That potato trick works surprisingly well for edge cases, but maybe not for extreme reception problems.
