Listener comments!

  11:08pm
brendan:

Oh man, this is one of my favorite Sloan tunes. "Good looks," as the kids say, Evan.
  11:08pm
randy in NC:

efd- Nice picture on the WFMU home page!
  11:09pm
chip clip:

this sloan song was in my favorite skate video growing up and I haven't heard it in forever. thanks for reminding me how much I love it efd!
  11:20pm
efd:

hey everyone! That Sloan song seems to be a universal favorite - glad you all like it as much as I do.

Randy, I guess that's a good Tuesday home page photo since it's got three Tuesday DJs in it.
  11:21pm
anemone:

moar sloan!
  11:26pm
dave:

"unless" is a machine for inducing head-bobbing. they ought to get a patent.
  11:27pm
Laurie:

Evan! I loved that Sloan song as well, and I love Outrageous Cherry too.
  11:27pm
Brian:

Sloan and Pollard... anchoring a killer opening set.
  11:40pm
noah:

christ this show has been amazing so far.
  11:43pm
efd:

thanks noah! This live set has been killing me ever since it was recorded... I've probably listened to it five times already.
  11:57pm
efd:

I'm going to assume that the lack of recent comments is due to the fact that everyone is stunned by how amazing this live set is.
  12:01am
Listener Pete:

EFD:

You're probably more stunned on why everyone in America is not is not on to these guys. But that's what FMU is for!
  12:04am
efd:

Pete, I think you're right. On both counts!

btw, we haven't yet received the new Cute Lepers here at the station... I'll keep an eye out for it next time I'm record shopping, and if I see it I'll buy it myself.
  12:07am
Danne D:

Hi Funk Feasters!
  12:09am
efd:

greetings Danne!
  12:09am
keira:

Dex and I are listening and send our thanks for this...it'll be alright...
  12:10am
efd:

thanks for checking in, Keira (and Brian) - warm thoughts to you(se) and to Dex.
  12:20am
Spoony:

Every drive to Rochester is paved with rainbows, so stop acting like it isn't.
  12:23am
Danne D:

Happy Birthday Evan's Mom (who I have no doubt is a big reader of the comments boards)
  12:25am
AZ:

Checking in late...the Laureates set was great. But: I had completely forgotten how awesome that Blue Orchids song is; I will be pulling "A Darker Bloom" off of the shelf pronto!
  12:28am
talk show?:

been listening for 15 mins - not a note played
  12:31am
E.L.:

At least you have the entire internet at your disposal.
  12:37am
efd:

"talk show?," if you don't want to hear songs being announced, tickets being given away and bands being interviewed I suggest you invest in an iPod or listen to something else because obviously this show is not for you.
  12:38am
m9:

n? Name of the band please!
  12:39am
brendan:

Haters gonna hate. You show 'em efd.
  12:40am
E.L.:

m9 — I'm sure it's coming. Give the man some time to give away some tickets.
  12:41am
efd:

also, I guess you missed the 30-minute opening set and the 35-minute live music set that preceded the talking you just happened to tune in at the beginning of.
  12:42am
Danne D:

I have this visual of EFD goin' all Bill Bixby transforming into the Hulk :)

Ticket giveaway period is definitely tricky on the accuplaylist :) What's genius about Evan is that he just needs to put the one letter and he'll remember everything else about the band automatically!

I think Evan should honor that hater by breaking out part 2 of the '75 Red Sox :D

But don't let them get you down EFD!
  12:43am
AZ:

I think this wins the Best Song Title Of The Evening award.
  12:45am
E.L.:

Try Pandora, ts, they know just the shoebox you fit in.
  12:47am
efd:

AZ, thanks for checking in! Glad you dug both the Laureates and hearing the Blue Orchids again.

I'm really looking forward now to playing part 3 of Super Sox 75.
  12:48am
Danne D:

Take Heart Evan - I think they complained to Michelangelo while he was painting the ceiling as well.
  12:52am
Danne D:

Btw, gotta laugh at this youtube recommendation I got:

Lynyrd Skynyrd - Simple Man
"Because you watched Klaus Nomi - Simple Man" lol

Anyway here's what I meant to post in case Evan doesn't quite get to Super Sox tonight.

Astrodome Scoreboard Memories. Some good stuff here:

  12:58am
?:

hey talk show, fuck off
  12:59am
Danne D:

Reggie!
  1:00am
Danne D:

oops sorry EFD - Reggie was favorite ballplayer growing up :)
  1:01am
efd:

fair enough, Danne.
  1:03am
efd:

OUT!! Take that, Danne D!
  1:04am
Danne D:

lol!

Here I'll make it up to you EFD with a video I found that I like. Pedro Martinez sharing his '04 championship with the people of Montreal (as you know the '94 Expos were leading the league and on their way to a possible championship year when Selig pulled the plug). Very classy by him to think of them in the midst of that celebration:

  1:08am
Michael from the Left Coast:

AZ--who's the guitar player on this?
  1:09am
efd:

ha! Michael, I was just looking that up in the liner notes!
  1:10am
efd:

(it doesn't specify by track, btw - all the players for the session are listed, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say it was probably Waddy Wachtel.)
  1:12am
Michael from the Left Coast:

Whoever it is he's good
Waddy is not a bad guess and it does have a Waddy-ish tone (I would have guessed GE Smith).
  1:12am
Michael from the Left Coast:

EFD--saw Waddy in Austin at SXSW (Playing with Bernard Fowler!).
  1:14am
efd:

doesn't look like G.E. Smith was part of that session. Jeff Baxter is also listed, so that would be my second guess but I agree it sounds more Wachtelian. Cool you saw him at SXSW!
  1:16am
Michael from the Left Coast:

You'll be pleased to know that Waddy still has the mojo, still looks the same and brought the rock big time!
  1:18am
Aharon:

Good to hear Ted Leo NOT hitting falsetto on a song.
  1:21am
Michael from the Left Coast:

Stee Ful
  1:21am
Danne D:

sneers menacingly at Aharon
  1:22am
Danne D:

:)
  1:24am
Aharon:

Was that a sneer? I thought there was just some food stuck in your mustache.
  1:25am
Danne D:

Leftovers from Villanous Fats that's all :)
  1:27am
Aharon:

Yes! I love it!
  1:28am
Michael from the Left Coast:

Have you run out of Harry Harrison In sounds?
  1:31am
efd:

no, not by a long shot! I just like to spread them out.
  1:31am
AZ:

EFD & Michael: I believe it's most likely Robin LeMesurier or Tim Pierce playing guitar on that track. The basic track was recorded in Ireland.
  1:33am
Michael from the Left Coast:

AZ--a programming note
Food Wars at 11:30 PM tonight is the Lockhart smackdown: Smitty's vs. Kreuz
  1:35am
Michael from the Left Coast:

EFD--it's been an age since you played Delta 5 and boy that would fit rather nicely next to that last track
  1:37am
Michael from the Left Coast:

AZ--actually depending on your cable system taht Food Wars episode could be on now
  1:39am
AZ:

Michael: I'll go have a look. EFD: LJP sez "g'nite!"
  1:43am
efd:

g'nite back to LJP, and thanks for the Rod guitar info.

Michael, good point re Delta 5 - I will address that in future.
  1:46am
Brian:

I have a feeling The Vibrators will soon be one of those bands I'll be embarrassed I didn't know about before...
  1:47am
E.L.:

Good night everyone.

Thanks efd. Always a pleasure.
  1:48am
efd:

goodnight, E.L. Always a pleasure to have you here live!

Brian - yup.
  1:52am
randy in NC:

Excellent radio as usual! Later
  1:55am
efd:

thanks Randy!
  1:55am
Danne D:

Thanks for a great show again Evan!
Goodnight Funk Friends!
  1:56am
Brian:

Sometimes it's the enlightenment, not the ignorance, that is bliss.

This Sonny and the Sunsets is also rather fine to listen to...
  2:00am
Joe:

great show
  8:14pm
Mike Sin:

I completely enjoyed that Laureates set.
  8:30pm
future stress recordings:

Thanks for supporting Sonny & the Sunsets!
