Robert Dayton, author of Cold Glitter: The Untold Story of Canadian Glam
(More info...)
Canadian author / visual artist / musician Robert Dayton (you may remember his early-2000s duo Canned Hamm) joins Evan in the studio to discuss this exhaustively researched book that’s just been published by Feral House. There’s a launch party Tuesday night the 29th at VillageWorks in NYC, and Robert will be performing at Baker Falls on Wednesday the 30th.
- Wed. May 7th, Noon - 3pm:
Tuff Sunshine
(More info...)
New York City’s Tuff Sunshine is, in the studio at least, the sole product of musician and songwriter Johnny Leitera. For their return to WFMU (following an appearance on Three Chord Monte in 2017) a full band will be on hand to perform Leitera’s hazy pop-psych tunes, no doubt including some from their latest album Vanity Matrix (Declared Goods).
- Wed. May 14th, Noon - 3pm:
JEAN CAFFEINE and THYROIDS
(More info...)
Austin musician Jean Caffeine put out a punk zine in San Francisco in 1977, played with the all-woman no-wave collective Pulsallama in the early ‘80s, and had a cameo in Richard Linklater’s Slacker in 1991. In recent years she’s been releasing music that wryly twists punk, indie, folk, and more. She’ll play a live set backed by Austin punks Thyroids, who will also play a set of their own. See them both at Pet Shop in Jersey City on Thursday May 15!
- Wed. May 21st, Noon - 3pm:
Consumables
(More info...)
Brooklyn's Consumables have just released their debut album, Infinite Games (We Are Time / Fierce Panda), which was produced and co-written by fellow Brooklynite Ben Hozie of Bodega. Fans of that band and other latter-day takes on post-punk (Parquet Courts, Yard Act, Pavement) will want to check out this live set.
