Glad to here, especially glad to be listening to efd's show! Also glad that 4 weeks into treatment and after some scary growth, main tumor has finally shrunk a little this week.
I think WFMU family good thoughts are primary reason :-)
OK. That is it for Holly medical shit for the evening :-)

if you created a Friendship Society profile and logged in you'd never have to answer another "math question" again (on this website).

Avatar 10:20pm
Listener Sybil:

All right, efd, only for you would I create YET ANOTHER internet profile. Next you'll have me coming out to Jersey City as a volunteer during the marathon.

Wait, doesn't that require actual existence in a physical space?

I once lived in Jersey City... long ago...
  10:21pm
-andrew-:

Goddamn!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:23pm
Stevel:

Do I have to be the first one to make the "Hookworm High" joke? "Hook 'em Worms!!!!"
  10:24pm

Getting on the PATH to Jersey City is easy. Getting to the PATH train might be a hassle though.

@Sybil - Great to hear from you and the very important blinky things! So glad they are still under your good care.

I used to have to commute on PATH four times a day, twice with my toddler son. I hoped it had gotten easier.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:27pm
Ike & the Head of a Dead Ram:

Sounds good!
Avatar 10:28pm
Listener Sybil:

@ Holly in NC: I've missed the interactions here and none so much as yours. And that's my sentimental outpouring for the night.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:30pm
efd:

I am duly humbled and honored, Sybil!
Avatar 10:38pm
Listener Sybil:

I want to tell you all the story of how my son got an ear infection, and i had to take him to St Vincent's (which no longer exists) ER, and how we were not seen for hours (OK, gunshots, etc.) and how after all that I was stopped by a cop when I tried to enter the PATH train station (I was glad he checked, it was not too long after the whole Joel Steinberg thing) and when we got home in JC I just collapsed.

I've asked, my son has no memory at all of living in JC.

Whereas me, I remember every moment. I haven't told you the half of it.
Avatar 10:41pm
Listener Sybil:

It was really hard to live in Jersey City then. 1908s
  10:43pm
JakeGould:

The 1908s must have been horrible. With all the horses and steam engines.
Avatar 10:43pm
Listener Sybil:

(Not trying to create a bummer. I'm just having a moment here.)

Reasons to be cheerful, part 3:

Avatar 10:44pm
Listener Sybil:

Sorry, @JakeGould. I have a bit of dyslexia, on top of everything.
  10:46pm
JakeGould:

No problem. I was like 12 years old in 1980 and still rode the subway on my own every now and then so the idea of me going to Jersey City in the 1980s on another train system would have freaked me out.
  10:47pm
JakeGould:

I knew how to get on the D train in the center (conductor) car and then go some place, get off, run to where I had to go to, run back, get back on the D train and head home. NYC life in the 1980s.
Avatar 10:47pm
Listener Sybil:

hey, @ jakegould, it freaked me out every single day and i was an adult.
  10:49pm
JakeGould:

@ListenerSybil: Yeah, when I tell people I rode the NYC subway as a 12 year old kid they are stunned. But I wasn’t the only one. And honestly it was less creepy than NYC buses back then… My god the buses were vile!
Avatar 10:51pm
Listener Sybil:

ALL: we're just enjoying a NYC eighties moment here. Although "enjoying" may not be the right word.
  10:52pm
cheri:

efd, I got to take my leave tonight thanks again for that wild hookworms set! i'll see you in two weeks.
Avatar 10:52pm
Listener Sybil:

@ efd: you may yet live to regret getting this mathematician past the "math problems". (I hope not.)
  10:53pm
JakeGould:

@ListenerSybil: Ha! I only wish I knew kids who actually did fun stuff like go to “Danceteria” or “Mudd Club” back then. In deep Brooklyn the guido kids were mainly into going to “The Fun House” and that was not my scene. Like a disco version of the Insane Clown Posse.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:54pm
efd:

not regretting it yet!
Avatar 10:57pm

I think @JakeGould and I are reliving something.... worth reliving.
