Sorry, I'm busy changing into my Spandau Ballet concert wardrobe.

Pretty sure my Spandau has seen its last ballet.

Greetings, efd and funksters. It'll be freezing real good soon.

Eventually the spandex blows aut.
Avatar 9:14pm
YesthatMattHall:

I never realized how much Spandau Ballet sounds like the middle ground between Talking Heads and Wall of Voodoo.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:15pm
Gaylord Fields:

@Uncle Michael: That's right! You're a member of "True Gold," Shawnee County's second most popular Spandau Ballet tribute band?

First time listeners out here in Tucson, AZ. LOVING THIS!!!

Howdy Tucson! I wrote a novel about you once.

Welcome, quietlyartistic! Happy to have you here, glad you're enjoying the show so far. Plenty of time for things to head south, though.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:20pm
Uncle Michael:

I it just me, or is "Heathen" getting belated love?
Avatar 9:22pm
YesthatMattHall:

Always loved Heathen. Just now it really connected in my mind with Blackstar.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:24pm
efd:

I know I for one am guilty of evaluating pretty much all post-'82ish Bowie releases through the prism of what came before, and not really giving his '90s/00s outpuch of a chance. Revisiting has been enlightening.
  9:24pm
V Priceless:

'Heathan' is a fab record from start to finish, in my humble. Hard to believe it's 14 years old already.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:25pm
Uncle Michael:

Me too, to a T, EFD.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:26pm
Uncle Michael:

Should I go see Gladys Knight? Does she still bring the goods?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:26pm
Gaylord Fields:

@Uncle Michael: That means you never actually saw Tecumseh's "Journeys to Diamond"! Okay, so their lead singer is only 5'3" and is Vietnamese, but he sounds exactly like Tony Hadley!
  9:27pm
V Priceless:

'hours...' Is very cool too. Strong writing in the classic 'vintage' DB style
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:28pm
Uncle Michael:

Screw it. I'm starting a Dead or Alive cover band.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:28pm
Gaylord Fields:

Hope you have a good (or maybe not so good) plastic surgeon on call.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:30pm

EFD--I just watched that Spandau doc on Saturday after putting it in my queue on your recommendation. Really great. Btw, what's a good place to start if I only know their two Top 40 hits?

efd:

@Figgsrock, I love their first full-length, Journeys To Glody.
Avatar 9:42pm
YesthatMattHall:

Personally I think all those old professionals are very much worth seeing. Remember whatever Oscars it was where Shirley Bassey ripped "Goldfinger" into shreds and left it shivering in the corner? They know how to do that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:43pm
Figgsrock:

@EFD cool, I shall check it out tomorrow!

I'm liking this Market East song, heard it on Pat Byrne's show.

I loved the Tourists single "In My Mind (There's Sorrow)"

Though I someone wondered where else but my mind. So I sometimes sang In My Craw There's Sorrow. Etc.

That I'm A Freak, Baby comp looks SO GOOD. Are the tracks largely solidly good? I know psych is a tricky genre. So much of it is mediocre in my experience.

'night all...great stuff tonight, EFD

@Domenica I haven't listened to all of it yet, but it looks pretty solid.

discogs says 1987, RYM has 1989, and now the reissue apparently says 1988. Well!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:18pm

well to be honest I made up 1988 based on the note in the reissue that it was recorded in Nov-Dec 1987, but maybe it was in the can for a year

I remember very very early MTV video for the Members song "Working Girl" that I liked, but Members songs on compilations are always earlier, more punky songs
