Not that i am Bongos obsessed, but each time the Bros. Johnson said "Be yourself," I heard "Beat Hotel."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:55pm

Jack, I think you might need to just admit that you're maybe a teeny bit Bongos-obsessed.

I'm sorry I missed the Game Theory / Loud Family set. "Regenisraen" is my favorite Game Theory song.
  11:18pm
Steve:

Was Scott Miller in Game Theory?
  11:19pm
Stevel:

UM: Any day of the week, baby.

What a great show.
Avatar 11:19pm

Oh yes
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:21pm
efd:

@Steve, he was indeed.
Avatar 11:23pm
Scraps:

I mean, yes Scott Miller formed Loud Family after Game Theory. Their first album, Plants and Birds and Rocks and Things, was my favorite pop/rock album of 1993, and one of my three or four fav albums of the decade.
  11:25pm
Steve:

Thanks EFD and Scaps. I remember Game Theory more than Loud Family. I thought it was the better band of the two.
  11:28pm
quietlyartistic:

Bass players always get forgotten
Avatar 11:29pm
Scraps:

Scott Miller remained an awesome songwriter; there are great songs on every Loud Family album, until his retirement and (damnit) death.
  11:29pm
Stevel:

Crazy Horse-like vibe on the Escovedo tune. That's a good thing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:31pm
efd:

@Steve, I'm pretty much in that same boat - somehow never caught up with the Loud Family when they were active and only went back and started listening when Scott Miller died. If you like Game Theory you'll like Loud Family too, I think.
  11:33pm
Steve:

Never understood why Scott Miller took his own life at 53 ? Very sad. Thanks EFD. I'll have to check out Loud Family since we think the same on Game Theory.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:34pm
efd:

I got tricked by the fact that Scott McCaughey is playing bass on that Escovedo album! I forgot that Kurt Bloch is on guitar in that Minus 5 configuration.
Avatar 11:35pm
Scraps:

I don't know why he killed himself, but he was very open on the internet, and he was disappointed in his lack of success. He openly retired because of that.
  11:37pm
Steve:

I bet that did it, Scraps
Avatar 11:39pm
Scraps:

@Steve, I reiterate my enthusiasm for Plants and Birds and Rocks and Things. It's really great, and I would think any fan of Game Theory should give it a try.
  11:39pm
Steve:

Okay
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:40pm
efd:

I'll second Scraps' recommendation, for whatever that's worth.
  11:43pm
Steve:

Thanks, EFD. You have good taste in music, too.
Avatar 11:44pm
Scraps:

He was awfully nice, too. I saw them several times. And he's a penetrating song critic. He had a weekly feature, also, called Ask Scott (I think), and he answered a great wide swath of topics, from pop songs to philosophy. He was awesome. Sigh...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:45pm
chris_in_space:

This current set is especially siiiick.
  11:46pm
Steve:

What a waste of life in his taking his own. The World was better with Scott in it than without especially in light of what all you said that did and was as a person.

looks like a great show. The Man is blocking from listening at work but in case you didn't mention it, Gil Ray was at FMU in 2000 playing drums for the Loud Family on Irene's show. pre-archives, unfortunately.

Joe, I think you or someone else mentioned that the Loud Family played here after Scott Miller died... such a shame it's not archived!

...mentioned after Scott Miller died that the Loud Family had played here, to be clear.
