@P-90: I just read Cope's 'Head On' is all. When they were unknown fledglings they played their 1st shows same night @ probably Eric's in Liverpool.

Sadly I have no blackout memories as I was -19 years old. However I have had the lovely experience of not having power in my own house for up to nine days, on no less than three occasions, one of those occurring during my college applications, if that counts for anything.

Michael, if i get an airhorn for my bicycle you can have my bell (which i never use anyway)

Re: armpit hair, I've been thinking that stubble should become acceptable. Like it is for men's facial hair.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:08pm
coelacanth:

this guy's voice reminds me of the lead singer from "human sexual response".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:11pm
coelacanth:

but, melinda! why should stubble (which is horrible anywhere, on any body...from a tactile viewpoint) be acceptable instead of naturally occurring hair? (maybe trimmed)
  11:13pm
JakeGould:

Yeah! Stubble sucks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:15pm
melinda:

Agree about the tactile part. But it shouldn't be an all or nothing deal, that's too constraining.
  11:16pm
JakeGould:

Do guys get their whole beard areas waxed? Think about what I just said…
  11:19pm
herb.nyc:

Karyn Kuhl have armpit hair?

Waxing sounds horrible.

Grace Slick probably does.

Nice cover!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:20pm
coelacanth:

well, there are no rules! if a woman shaves or waxes or whatever, or not, has never determined whether i'd be with her or not; but if there is stubble there, (wherever "there" may be!) i don't want to touch there!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:21pm
melinda:

Yes to no rules. Freeform body hair!
  11:22pm
Eddy in Australia:

Hi Evan and everyone! Joining the fun for the last hour or so.
@P-90: You know about the Crucial Three, right?
@T-O-P Todd: Can't wait for The Muffs on Saturday.
@Coelacanth: To EFD's credit, he gave "The Next Day" a fair run at the time; it's a good album
  11:23pm
JakeGould:

Yeah, but why do women have to wax their mustaches but guys don’t do the same thing? I mean, people get their buttholes waxed.

AMERICA CAN YOU HEAR ME?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:29pm
coelacanth:

i really would rather feel soft hair; but i didn't escape some society conditioning! a lot of hair on the legs took some getting used to. (but i did.) and a mustache? i can, without hesitation, handle some hair there... but i think an abundance of dark mustache hair on a woman might be beyond my enlightenment-ness!
  11:29pm
JakeGould:

Awww… Jeez… I brought the whole chat down. Sorry folks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:30pm
coelacanth:

i had to think about that, Jake!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:32pm
melinda:

The reason for not waxing anything is....pain.
  11:32pm
johnk77:

the tubes were great
and polymorphously perverse
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:34pm
coelacanth:

...and, for what it's worth, i - who only shave about every 5 days, shaved every single day for 4 years when i was with someone who had very sensitive skin.
  11:39pm
JakeGould:

What about when people shave their heads. Why not wax their whole skull?
  11:40pm
JakeGould:

Those Gotobeds made a witty Red Hot Chili Peppers Joke right there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:40pm
melinda:

Pain, Jake.
  11:41pm
JakeGould:

@melinda: Okay… Okay… Pain… But still, people do tons of painful things for vanity.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:42pm
coelacanth:

Eddy @ 11:22 i don't know where i was at the time.
...when i first heard tracks from "blackstar", my immediate thought was that i should've been paying more attention to Bowie all those years, since around scary monsters when i stopped.
...and a few minutes later he died.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:44pm
coelacanth:

i'd bet some people wax their skulls.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:46pm
melinda:

Maybe the hair that gets waxed is considered somehow dirty or inappropriate (nether regions, back hair, female facial hair) and deserving of a painful rip. Dunno. But there probably are people who wax skulls or whatnot.
  11:48pm
JakeGould:

And here is a link to the Karyn Kuhl Band release with that exact track. karynkuhl.bandcamp.com...
