Yo, duke!
  12:03pm
Doug Schulkind:

Hello from Amtrak somewhere East of Altoona! The frickin WiFi blocks streaming audio/video, but they can't stop me from salivating over the playlist. Slurp slurp.
  12:06pm
listener james from westwood:

3 hours of the d:o are exactly what i need today. morning gents and happy monday to all!
  12:10pm
duke:

really have to pay more attention. I looked at the play list and saw Elizabeth Perkins and thought it was the artist. I didn't recognize the name so I googled it and got some actress. I thought WTF? Pretty good stuff for a film actress. Too bad it wasn't right.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:11pm
Jeff G:

Howdy, Doug! A bad wifi experience? On Amtrak? Next you'll tell us it's freezing and/or hot as hades in there....
  12:12pm
Doug Schulkind:

The air here in the snack bar car is super cooled. I may never get off. D:O Radio is a mocha frappucino grande for the ears!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:12pm
Jeff G:

Happy Monday, listener james! Glad you could make it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14pm
Jeff G:

Yeah, duke, we googled Perkins, too, just to try and figure out why the song was penned for her. Fans of the movie BIG, perhaps. Or, more likely, the tv show WEEDS.
  12:16pm
duke:

At least I didn't try to google Rosa Parks.
  1:00pm
northguineahills:

Is the bed music the Skatalites as dubbed by King Tubby?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:01pm
Jeff G:

Why yes it is!
  1:16pm
northguineahills:

My LP skips on "Sealing Dub", consarnit!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:18pm
Jeff G:

Time for a new copy, perhaps. Anyone else's stream cut out? I've lost it here at DO -- oop, back now!
  1:23pm
northguineahills:

Mine was "The Skatalites meet King Tubby" on Motion Recs.

stream alright over here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:26pm
Jeff G:

I think that's the one I have, just repackaged under a different title...
  1:39pm
Hugo:

The BoB! It may be cacophonous at times, but it's beautiful cacophony!
  1:47pm
listener james from westwood:

i'm having no skipping or stream-cutout issues on this side, and overall far fewer than when they were doing some tune-up work on the stream at the magic factory a couple of weeks ago. must've done the stream some good!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:55pm
Jeff G:

Agreed 1000%, Hugo.
And ljfw, glad to hear that you can hear all there is to hear, clearly.
  2:28pm
Doug S.:

Speaking of maintenance work on the stream, I am very sorry to announce that WFMU is sad to be losing our wonderful tech director and all-around stream godsend Mike Adler, who is leaving for a position at Huffington Post.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:39pm
Jeff G:

In re Doug's news tidbit, I'd just like to say, "Waaaaaaaaaaa."
And also: good on ya, Mike Adler!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:39pm
Jeff G:

I'm really killing it with the umlauts today, just fyi.
  2:49pm
Hugo:

@Jeff G: Heard of United Front? West Coast band from early 80s. Did three albums, including a live in Berlin one for FMP. Great stuff! This band spawned what was later to be known as Asian improv. I tend to think that left coast is somewhat overlooked in US jazz history.
  2:53pm
listener james from westwood:

congrats to mike adler and terribly sorry the station's losing his masterful touch.
  2:53pm
Dan in Seattle:

More umlauts means more fun.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:55pm
Jeff G:

@Hugo: No, don't know United Front! Left coast totally under-sung in jazz lore.
  2:57pm
listener james from westwood:

oh, i do agree about that piano piece. that piece was quite lovely.
many thanks for the show, gents! safe train travels, doug!
  2:57pm
Hugo:

Ah! Looks like I got work to do!
  2:57pm
northguineahills:

Good fun, Jeff!
  2:57pm
duke:

thanks for another great show
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:58pm
Jeff G:

Thanks, ljfw, Hugo, northguineahills, duke, and everyone for listening!
