Yelling at screaming at subordinates is simply not something we should tolerate. It's not a learning experience. It's not something that helps people grow and develop.

Greg from Bloomfield:

In my experience it's usually out of shape middle aged guys in bars that complain about the "Wussification of America." And it's always in reference to athletes who are in peak physical condition and undergo inconceivable amounts of pressure at their jobs.

If I came in to recruit your son, I would tell you, your wife, and your son, that I will be the most demanding coach your son can play for.

Can't the B1G just go back to 10 like the good old days? :(

The better investment (in case any parents are here tonight) is the little r that stands for Rowan University. Down in Glassboro. Wish my own kid had gone there instead of Widener.
The sports thing is there and a source of pride but not the main resource they offer.

That sounds like Buzzcut from Beavis & Butt-Head. "What is your major malfunction? ?? ???"

I remember my first tennis coach in high school. Basically set the line-up day one and then just basically had us go and play. Pretty much no instruction. We promptly went 0-20.

The next year we had a woman that won local (newspaper) tennis tourneys and the like with her husband and we learned a little and at least beat the teams it wasn't embarrassing to lose to and we went 5-15.

The 3rd year the athletic director, finding no other person to coach took over - largely b/c pretty much all the kids on the team were honors students and he hated the idea of a team so composed getting canceled for lack of a coach. We learned a lot that year and went 11-10 with a couple nice wins over the kinds of towns we usually wouldn't be remotely competitive against :)

Of course, Chris- you are our favorite subversive type person! And lucky you that technology was still weak back then...
