	12:40pm Mike East: @tim - I glanced at it. My initial impression is that I like the idea of going through your spouse's record collection, but I didn't really like how condescending she was being. Bonus points for having a Matt Farley song about her, though.

	12:49pm tim from champaign: I like your thinking, probablyjohn. Mike, I initially liked the idea too. I also liked that the author listened with a fairly open mind (like with the Ayler record). After a bit, I started to wonder if the author was being disingenuous. She stated that she's a writer and librarian yet (for example) she doesn't know the term au pairs, has no context to the cover image of the Au Pairs album or calls a gatefold jacket "open-y". Hmmmm.....

	2:21pm Duane: Osibisa and Mandrill are great afro-funk bands. I'd say that Osibisa was a bit closer to Assagai than Mandrill. Mandrill is closer to Kool & the Gang than all of those bands. Robyn: Yeah I heard it was good..although mixed to negative feelings about SXSW this year than i've heard in awhile..when the Wall Street Journal say's its to "markety"..the shark is jumped!
	2:23pm Jshatan: Mandrill - from darkest Brooklyn. Good bit of the second line in their sound. Plays well with the Meters, for example. Everyone should at least have their greatest hits. Monstrous live, too, according the bootleg I have.

Robyn: Yeah I heard it was good..although mixed to negative feelings about SXSW this year than i've heard in awhile..when the Wall Street Journal say's its to "markety"..the shark is jumped!
