Favoriting Bryce: Playlist from October 16, 2015 Favoriting

I never miscue a record. I am punctual, well-prepared, and dislike clutter. Outgoing and helpful, I'm always appropriately dressed. I do not behave erratically and have excellent penmanship. My CD's never skip, and I am in good health. I like all the notes, in any order.

I think it was a few years ago you introduced me to Jean-Claude Éloy. I love his schiidt!
Avatar 12:36pm
Rev. Turnip Druid:

what year is WHAT...?
trick question. I'm too caffeinated to be defeated this way.
Avatar 12:37pm
Bryce:

it's 7 divided by thirteen A.D.
Avatar 12:38pm
Rev. Turnip Druid:

& what NGH said. It was maybe 3 years ago, on this very program, Gaku-No-Michi was played (unless it was Shanti, but pretty sure it was this) ... which sent me down a rabbit-hole of Eloy geekism & completism.
Avatar 12:40pm

oh man, that makes me so happy. to this day, i still can't figure out why he's so obscured.

Same here. I ordered G-N-M and Shanti the following week, and have been hooked ever since.

& the mimaroglu site has (or had, at least) the english translations of the books, re: Eloy's composition notes & performance technical specs. It's a total vortex of awesome.

Avatar 1:00pm

yeh, those are the books. I picked up the "between concrete & abstract" one, with everything you'd ever want to know about G-N-M; the recording process, performances, interviews, all lovely.
Avatar 1:00pm

I think Eloy just did a tape performance of this in Japan a few months ago, no?

@blee: A common problem with this show. Business idea: have a fleet of drones ready to carry orders from food truck to desk of Bryce-bound workers. Small market, but desperate
Avatar 1:03pm

fred! help! how does one pronounce "éloy" ? ? ? ?
Avatar 1:04pm

I like that Rev! You should design and submit it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:04pm
blee:

@fred - I guess I could play the show on my phone in order to get lunch, coffee and leave desk area for restroom break, etc. Drones would work, but the decapitation factor is elevated.

I guess most of you know about the Metamkine mail-order (though I'm not sure how hard it is to get stuff from them to the US). A lot of French and European electroacoustic music. Plus, they're good people: www.metamkine.com...

I once drove 5.5 hours to Atlanta to see Asmus Tietchens play in a coffee house. He had all of the chairs tied to near the ceiling and had a kinetic sculpture play the chairs and other objects. Me and my friend's two car caravan were half the audience. Nice man, he was.

Bizarre! Also the woman talking sounds like half of the dialog on Person of Interest.

@Sphere: You should volunteer to organize the next company lunch at a place that plays Bryce's show. If such a place exists, it's probably both vegan and worth knowing
