Favoriting Hinky Dinky Time with Uncle Michael: Playlist from March 11, 2016 Favoriting

Uncle Michael's avatar View Uncle Michael's profile Favoriting

Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

DON'T PLEDGE UNTIL YOU'VE READ THE INSTRUCTIONS IN THE FIRST COMMENT!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:00am
Uncle Michael:

Step 1. Enter a dollar amount (Pledges of $20 or more make you eligible for fabulous prizes that I'll be giving way during each of my two fundraising shows.)

Step 2. Select either "Per Month, Swag for Life," or "One-time." (Swag for Life provides the station with sustenance till you ask us to stop. It's the best way to support WFMU!)

Step 3. (IMPORTANT!) Click the PLUS (+) button to support the selected show.
Additional shows may be selected. After each selection, click the PLUS (+) button to add it to the list of selected shows.
(if no shows are listed BELOW the menu, pledges go the station as a whole, not to specific shows and will not be thanked on the air or be eligible for prizes)

As many of you know, I have been pulled away from my usual Drummer Stream/Marathon duties to take care of my father in the aftermath of my mom's passing two weeks ago. Uncle Michael has stepped in to handle all of the behind-the-scenes work and preparation for me—and I just wanted to express my gratitude publicly.

Give the Drummer Radio would not be participating in the 2016 Marathon without the tireless and generous efforts of Uncle Michael.

Thank you, my friend.

Nine in PGH:

Another cause of Pledge Crediting error is when filling out the pledge form make sure that the amount of pledge is entered before crediting the show desired.
If the amount is changed after selecting and ADDING (+) show to credit, the pledge will go to the current WFMU Over The Air show.
I think that can be fixed before getting to the personal info page but it can be easily missed and there is no indication on the final pledge page of the show selected for credit.
That was my dillema this morning.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:34pm
Listener Scott:

I emailed Joe to switch credit. Either way, I'm re-SWAG'ed up.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35pm

Doug--I'm real sorry to hear about your mom. :(
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37pm

βrian: Yes. There was one on Marion Street Mall for a little bit. Now, the Marion Street Cheese Market would be a place to buy choice wines. You can also buy wine at the Jewel grocery stores, the Pete's Grocery store, the CVS sores and the Walgreens stores.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37pm
Doug Schulkind:

Thank you much, Scott.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37pm
listener james from westwood:

Lee Hazlewood is a perfect example of an artist who I never would have gotten even casually acquainted with had it not been for WFMU. Even his big "hit," "Some Velvet Morning," which Art Bell used as bumper music and so gave some publicity, likely would've slid by me, and I NEVER would've heard as many of his deeper cuts. As it was, my mom asked me what this one song was that she was hearing late at night on Coast to Coast, and she hummed some of it for me. And this WFMU listener closed the circle for her.
So thanks to UM and GTDR and WFMU for closing so many of my musical circles.
  12:39pm
Nine in PGH:

It's not quite like an online purchase in the sense that one cannot see ALL of the details before hitting the Pledge button. But Joe is correcting my account after I made another pledge the right way.

Another Pilot tune worth racking up frequent flyer airplay miles: "First After Me," from Morin Heights. And William Lyall's solo work, too.
