Good morning Jeff and people headed out. I like that drummer stream plays something called "Ornette Coleman - Unknown Artist" right now

@Uncle Michael: this looks better to me than a trip to Paris (though I was born there, so it's just gray background to me)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:13am

Ah. Well, still.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:15am

What does, Fred?

This Anton Ellis needs to be mashed up with Summer Lovin' from Grease.

@fred
"Unknown Artist" is the actual name of that Ornette Coleman performance!

Good morning, Jeff! Happy birthday, Kate! Happy D:O Day, everyone!

Mornin', @Doug!

@Uncle Michael: Paris. There's very little color there (if you ignore ads, which I tend to do)

I'm lost. What looks better than a trip to Paris?

We're heading out. I'll try to negotiate continuing the show in the car. Thanks for the romance, Jeff.

Everyone have a great Sunday.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:21am
Doug Schulkind:

I loved the Morgan documentary, but I feel it could have done a better job at explaining just what made Lee Morgan such a great artist. That is ultimately the hardest part of the story to tell, or to tell well.
  10:25am
JtotheK:

@Doug - I hope to watch the Morgan doc soon-ish, but I'm /very/ behind in my movie queues, and especially music docs that I've been eager to watch...

Hey, @davefromtoronto! It's from a different mix (monitor mix).
  10:32am

@Jeff - Kate and my wife seem to have very similar taste in tunes, and also slight lack in enthusiasm for the more 'out there' jazz... Fascinating! (Great set!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:33am

Jeff Golick:

I don't think Kate will ever forgive me for bringing her to see "Space Is the Place" early in our courtship.
  10:41am
Dean:

Call me cynical, but I think Jeff G. uses this annual celebration as an excuse to play the music *he* really wants to hear. Most Sunday mornings he's thinking, "Agh, gawd, gotta go play three hours of cacophonous noodling again."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:43am
Doug Schulkind:

I'm now thinking of opening a pasta joint called Cacophonous Noodling.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:43am

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:44am
Doug Schulkind:

@Jeff
Did you know that "Space Is the Place" was produced by Uncle Michael's uncle?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:44am
Jeff Golick:

"...and with slight variations."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:45am
Jeff Golick:

No! @Doug, that's nuts. Kate will have to give him a piece of her mind.
  10:45am
Dean:

"Did you say, 'orecchiette'? Can you spell that?"
  10:49am
Dean:

So, yeah, Sly & Robbie played in our backyard last night--more or less--and I missed it, because I had to pick up son from airport. But as the show proceeded I could hear Robbie from our downstairs dining area.
  10:49am
JtotheK:

@Dean - based on your recommendation I have the book "Nixon: The Life" on the top of my 'to read' pile. His time in office was a bit before my time -- however the book sounds very interesting. (It will also perhaps inspire me to watch Anthony Hopkins as Nixon for 3 hours again, haven't seen that movie I a long time.)
  10:50am
Dean:

@JtotheK: I hope you enjoy the book. A wealth of detail.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:52am

@Jeff: isn't marrying you forgiveness enough?
  10:53am

Never before realized how much this B-52s tune resembles The Cure's "Killing an Arab."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:53am
Jeff Golick:

@fred: Yes, certainly so. It does still come up from time to time, though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:55am
Jeff Golick:

That Nixon/Frost movie was pretty good, too, iirc.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:57am
fred:

Obvi. She has to keep you aware of how lucky you are she looked past it
  11:01am

@Jeff - yep, Frost/Nixon was great! I haven't seen Elvis & Nixon yet. (See earlier comment re: behind in movie watching...) b/w original buzzard band, yay!

  11:28am
JtotheK:

Gloria Jones and HRD - back to back hits! Seeds of Life is awesome. I haven't been able to attend the monthly rare soul night here in town in a while -- but hearing Seeds takes me back to when the 45 was spun to a packed dance floor, fantastic!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:28am

I have heard the original before, but for some reason I still think of Tainted Love as a Soft Cell song. Dates me I guess

@Jeff: Exactly, which is why I survived crappy Brooklyn apartments when I could get better ones. Just went to my storage unit and the water from the rain was a foot from my boxes. It would have been ironic if my stuff got flooded less then a week before I moved. (4.8 in/122mm in 3 hours will flood a place)

Strikes me that the Nixon bio doesn't even mention Lennon, nor the so-called enemies list per se. Don't have it at hand to check. Maybe the author decided the subjects had been well-covered in past accounts.
Avatar 11:50am
northguineahills:

I probably have everything the Beatles ever recorded. When my wife moved in w/ me, I started to play all of my physical recorded media in alphabetical order (which took 8 years in total), my wife can't stand the Beatles and when I got to that section, she nearly crucified me.

@Brian: Yes, I'm creating my own GIS dept. at a hydrology & soil science firm. It's exactly what I've always wanted to do. Glad I don't have to take a crappy job.
