But there's something very specific about the quality of the sound - I think the Sunwatchers are actually using an electric phin rather than an electric guitar. And the HorseLords and $75Bill have messed around with their guitars - Owen Gardner studied Mauritanian music, and Che Chen added quarter-tone frets. So it's partly the tuning. But also the trance-like hypno quality. I LOVE IT.

I used to have this problem with certain Frequent Comments Boarders of The Past, who would engage in long discussions about food and cooking and recipes and favorite restaurant dishes. I’m very suggestible on these topics, and I wind up going crazy with cravings.

	9:53am p20: I think that all the Malian and other African music that has become more available to us over the last 10-20 years (Tinarawen, Mdou Moctar, Sahel Sounds, Analog Africat, etc, etc) has started to become incorporated as an influence by current musicians - not just an exotic curiosity any more. This is tremendously exciting to me. (And there's a new Meg Baird record too!)

	9:58am StringOFperils: Atter a number of years of acquiring vinyl records,cassettes, CDs, hard-drives full of music files, and books books books, it's like having an aircraft-carrier chained to your ankle. Moving-days are almost impossible. It gets easier to de-tox on the buying end of things and just listen....however, supporting the artists is really important...I say, go for it. Follow your ears. Drop that cash. It's your thing.

	10:04am p20: @StringOFperils: I got rid of all CDs and cassettes a long time ago. But just couldn't let go of all the vinyl. And moving day really is a problem. So every so often I make a pass over the library and sell some records off. It's better that way - things come and go, instead of piling up infinitely. And if you keep getting rid of the weakest 25% of your records, the average quality of what you retain just keeps going up - you are left with only the cream of the crop. And then other people get a chance to listen the records that you aren't really going to listen to again. (Same works for the bookshelves).

There's a key inside to all the characters - forces of evil Ted Nugent, Henry Kissinger, etc - being battled by Emma Goldman and the Tooth Fairy and "Kool-Brave" (a mashup of the Kool-Aid man and Braveheart), while the Sunwatchers play behind them. It's almost as briliant as the music on the record inside!

	10:46am Doug C.: Go to Gatorland in Florida. They have tons of Flamingos and it is a pleasure to see the giant predator alligators. The birds look for food in the alligator pens and it amazing to watch the birds play with the knife edge of getting food/ being eaten. They are definitely not stupid.

But there's something very specific about the quality of the sound - I think the Sunwatchers are actually using an electric phin rather than an electric guitar. And the HorseLords and $75Bill have messed around with their guitars - Owen Gardner studied Mauritanian music, and Che Chen added quarter-tone frets. So it's partly the tuning. But also the trance-like hypno quality. I LOVE IT.

	9:53am p20: I think that all the Malian and other African music that has become more available to us over the last 10-20 years (Tinarawen, Mdou Moctar, Sahel Sounds, Analog Africat, etc, etc) has started to become incorporated as an influence by current musicians - not just an exotic curiosity any more. This is tremendously exciting to me. (And there's a new Meg Baird record too!)

	9:58am StringOFperils: Atter a number of years of acquiring vinyl records,cassettes, CDs, hard-drives full of music files, and books books books, it's like having an aircraft-carrier chained to your ankle. Moving-days are almost impossible. It gets easier to de-tox on the buying end of things and just listen....however, supporting the artists is really important...I say, go for it. Follow your ears. Drop that cash. It's your thing.

	10:04am p20: @StringOFperils: I got rid of all CDs and cassettes a long time ago. But just couldn't let go of all the vinyl. And moving day really is a problem. So every so often I make a pass over the library and sell some records off. It's better that way - things come and go, instead of piling up infinitely. And if you keep getting rid of the weakest 25% of your records, the average quality of what you retain just keeps going up - you are left with only the cream of the crop. And then other people get a chance to listen the records that you aren't really going to listen to again. (Same works for the bookshelves).
